National Women's Day is celebrated every year in India on February 13 to mark the birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu an Indian political activist and poet who served as the first Governor of the United Provinces, after India's independence. Famously known as "Nightingale of India"
She played an important role in the Indian independence movement against the British Raj. She was the first Indian woman to be president of the Indian National Congress.
