The PG Department of Commerce & Management under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Jasvir Singh, organised an Awareness Camp on the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) on 24 August 2026 for the students of B. Com Final Year and M. Com, sponsored by the State Office, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Ministry of MSME, Government of India. The programme aimed to provide students with in-depth awareness of PMEGP and various government-supported opportunities for self-employment and entrepreneurship, particularly in the manufacturing and service sectors. Mr. Satvinder Singh, Senior Consultant, Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development Chandigarh, sensitised students about entrepreneurship opportunities and enterprise development, while Mr. Neeraj Kumar, KVIC, explained PMEGP and its support mechanism. Mr. Kuldeep Chand, Industry Inspector, shared practical insights into establishing and managing enterprises and highlighted viable business opportunities. The speakers emphasised project planning, financial management, effective utilisation of government schemes and entrepreneurship as a viable career option. The interactive session enabled students to clarify their queries and relate their academic knowledge to practical entrepreneurial opportunities. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by HOD, Dr. Manjeet Singh, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons, sponsoring agency and participants. Poster making and slogan writing competition.

The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Cell, organised a Poster Making and Slogan Writing Competition at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College on 24 August 2026.
Students from various departments, including Commerce, Arts, and Sciences, participated enthusiastically in the competition and showcased their creativity, originality, and innovative ideas through thoughtfully designed posters and meaningful slogans.Principal,Dr. Jasvir Singh appreciated the efforts of the IIC and IKS Cell and congratulated all the winners and participants.
The competition was judged by Dr. Prabhjot Kaur and Dr. Mandeep Kaur, who evaluated the entries on the basis of creativity, originality, presentation, relevance, and effectiveness of expression.
Dr. Gagandeep Kaur and Prof. Sharnjeet Kaur coordinated the event and ensured its smooth conduct.

The PG Department of Computer Science & Applications, in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Ropar, has initiated a six-week training programme on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence for students of the department. The training commenced on 24th August, 2026 and will continue for a period of six weeks. The programme is aimed at providing students with practical knowledge, hands-on experience, and industry-oriented skills in the rapidly developing fields of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.
Students from BCA, B.Sc. (Hons.) Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, B.Voc. (Software Development), MCA, and M.Sc. (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science) participated in the selection process. A selection test was conducted to assess the students’ aptitude and technical understanding. A total of 89 students appeared for the test, out of which 50 students were selected on merit basis for the six-week training programme at NIELIT, Ropar.
Special thanks are extended to the Principal Sir, Dr. Jasvir Singh, for his constant support, encouragement, and vision in providing students with valuable industry-oriented learning opportunities. Sincere appreciation is also expressed to Dr. Surender Kumar, Head, PG Department of Computer Science & Applications, for his valuable guidance, encouragement, and support in facilitating this training initiative.
The department also expresses its sincere gratitude to Dr. Sarwan Singh, Joint Director and Scientist-D, NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology), Ropar, for providing this valuable opportunity to the students
The selection and coordination of the training programme were carried out by Asst. Prof. Tajinder Kaur, along with Manpreet Kaur, Gurmeet Kaur, Sukhleen Kaur and Karamjit Kaur. Their dedicated efforts and coordination contributed to the smooth conduct of the selection test and the successful commencement of the training programme.

The English Literary Society of P.G. Department of English, in collaboration with the Institutions Innovation Council, organized Debate, Declamation & Poetry Recitation event on 20 August 2026.
The event provided students with a vibrant platform to express their ideas, demonstrate their communication skills, and showcase their creativity through debate, declamation, and poetry recitation. The programme aimed to encourage critical thinking, confidence, effective public speaking, and literary expression among students. The participants enthusiastically took part in the competitions and presented their views and creative expressions on contemporary and socially relevant themes.
In Debate Competition, Harjas Singh, student of B.Sc. Medical won first, Manan Rishi from B.Sc. Hons. in Physics won second, and Riya Pawar from BCA won third position . In Declamation Competition Dhanya Verma from MCA won first position, Ayushi from B.Sc. AI & DS won second position and Taranpreet Singh from B.Sc. Won third position. In Poetry Recitation Gauri from BCA won first position, Simranjeet Kaur from B.Sc. won second position, and Vanshika from BA Hons. in English won third position.The event was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Gurpreet Kaur, HOD, Department of English. Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College Students and Faculty Honored by Punjabi University, Patiala
The Honorable Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Jagdeep Singh, alongside Dr. Bhim Inder Singh, Director of the Youth Welfare Department, recently felicitated and awarded cash prizes to the winning students of the National Youth Festival (Session 2025-26), which was held at Sathyabama University, Chennai.
It is a matter of immense pride that ten students from the Music Department of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College were honored at the university for their outstanding achievements at the national level. The talented students secured a Gold Medal in the Indian Group Song category and a Silver Medal in the Folk Orchestra.
In addition to the students’ success, Dr. Jagpinderpal Singh, Head of the Music Department at the college, was specially honored by the Vice-Chancellor for his dedicated guidance, excellent preparation, and steadfast support of the teams for the National Youth Festival.

One-Day Inter-College Food Fest Organised at Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College
The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Agrarian Society, organised a One-Day Inter-College Food Fest on 19 August 2026. The event provided students a platform to showcase their culinary skills, creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit through attractive food stalls.

Principal Dr. Jasvir Singh appreciated the efforts of IIC and the Department of Agriculture and congratulated the winners and participants. IIC President Dr. Gurpreet Kaur highlighted the importance of such activities in promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and practical learning.
Prof. Bhawna Thakur, Head, Department of Agriculture, motivated the students and appreciated their enthusiasm and innovative efforts. The event was also graced by Prof. Saroj and Dr. Minakshi Sharma from BAM Khalsa College, Garhshankar and Pojewal, whose presence promoted inter-college interaction and collaboration.
Prof. Bhawna Thakur and Dr. Shaveta Kaushal judged the food stalls on presentation, creativity, taste, innovation, and overall management. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members and promoted experiential learning, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills.
