The PG Department of Commerce and Management, Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib, celebrated **World Tourism Day** with the active participation of the students of **B.Voc. Hospitality and Tourism** on 25.09.2026. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of tourism, its contribution to the economy, cultural preservation, employment generation, and sustainable development.
As part of the celebration, a **guest lecture** was organised for the students. The lecture was delivered by **Prof. Sharndeep from Government College, Mahain**. He interacted with the students and highlighted various aspects of the tourism and hospitality industry, career opportunities in the sector, and the importance of developing professional skills for a successful career in tourism. The session was informative and engaging, and students actively participated in the interaction. Dr Jasvir Singh, Principal also talked about that Tourism is not merely about travelling; it is a powerful means of promoting cultural heritage, understanding, employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable development.
After the guest lecture, an **educational visit to Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Museum, Sri Anandpur Sahib**, was organised for the B.Voc. Hospitality and Tourism students. The visit provided students with practical exposure to the historical, cultural, and heritage dimensions of tourism. Students explored the museum and gained valuable knowledge about the rich heritage and historical legacy associated with Sri Anandpur Sahib.
The visit also helped students understand the role of museums and heritage sites in **heritage tourism, cultural tourism, tourism interpretation, and preservation of cultural resources**. It provided an opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world tourism experiences.
