The College was started by the Government of Karnataka in the year 1983 to cater the needs of higher Education for Malnad region of western ghats . Which means a place with complete wealth and prosparity. The college was inaugurated by the then MLA Sri. Somappa with the vision of creating the values of Higher Education in the remote Malnad Area. The College is Situated in the midst of beautifu

l hills and Mountain ranges with plantation of coffee cardmom, pepper, aracanut etc. The college has sufficient building, large playground which is spread in the vast area of 14 acres of land. Initially the college was running in the premises of Government Pre-University College Sakleshpur later it was shifted to new campus in the year 1988. Now the college is full pledged with all facilities.
