🏆 DISCOURSE DUEL 3rd EDITION (2025) - A RESOUNDING SUCCESS! 🏆

We're thrilled to announce the successful culmination of Discourse Duel 3rd Edition, the premier Inter-College Debate Competition hosted by IEI-IEM Students' Chapter (EE) on 6th August, 2025. This year's edition witnessed exceptional intellectual discourse and argumentative prowess from talented participants across institutions.

🥇 WINNERS: Team Oxwick - Rohit Das & Oyindrila Banerjee
🥈 RUNNERS-UP: Team Not So Sure - Sriyansh Karmakar & Sudeshna

⚖️ ESTEEMED JUDGING PANEL:
🔹 Rohini Dasgupta - Associate at PwC India (Business Application Consulting – SAP domain), IEM alumna, and former Area Director at Toastmasters International District 124. Her expertise in process optimization and passion for mentorship brought invaluable insights to the competition.
🔹 Saikat Banerjee - IEM Alumnus of EE department (2023 graduate), former IEI core team member (2022-23), and current SAP BI Consultant at IBM India. His inquisitive nature and relevant questioning skills added the required flair to the debate.
We also had Dr. Tina De - Assistant HoD of BSH Department of IEM Kolkata as the distinguished internal judge

The IEI-IEM Students' Chapter (Electrical Engineering Division), in association with the Department of Electrical Engineering, successfully conducted the installation ceremony of its Core Working Committee for the session 2025-2026 on August 6, 2025.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests Mr. Animesh Sarkar from the Membership Department, The Institution of Engineers (India), and Mr. Anirban Datta, Founder & CEO of PIMECAS Engineering Solutions. Mr. Datta, a Graduate Mechanical Engineer from IEI with over 25 years of industrial experience, provided valuable insights to the student community.

The installation was conducted in the esteemed presence of Dr. Subhajit Kar, Head of Department, Electrical Engineering, Prof. Somnath Hazra, Assistand HOD, Electrical Engineering, Dr. Rajat Subhra Pal, Head of Department, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Prof. Debashis Jana, Faculty Advisor of the IEI- IEM Students' Chapter (EE). Their guidance reinforced the chapter's commitment to fostering engineering excellence and leadership development.

This milestone marks the beginning of a promising academic year, strengthening the bridge between academic learning and industrial practice while upholding the highest standards of engineering education.

The Conference is aimed to inculcate the culture of advanced Research and Development in the field of Renewable Energy among the researchers. It gathers students, researchers, engineers, and decision-makers, manufacturers together to discuss the environmental problems caused mainly by energy usages, conversion, proposals on their solutions, recent advancement in smart grid application and application of computer intelligence in the field of Energy Optimization. It promises to be a great platform to share the research and development activities by the students as well as the industries that lead renewable energy as the major resource of electrical energy to ensure a greener environment. The said conference will feature presentation of technical papers, keynote addresses, workshops, industry-expo and invited talks by the eminent academicians and industry experts with their latest renewable energy developments and solutions.
