Sandur Polytechnic was established in 1988 and is managed by Shivapur Shikshana Samiti, Sandur which was founded in 1965 by Dr. M.Y.Ghorpade, former Minister for Rural Development & Panchayat Raj, Govt. of Karnataka to cater to educational needs of Sandur and the neighbouring areas. The Polytechnic is supported by the Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores Ltd, (SMIORE), Sandur. Sandur polytechnic is recogn

ized by the Govt. of Karnataka and All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and administrated by a Governing Council comprising representatives of Shivapur Shikshana Samiti, Department of Technical Education, AICTE and Industries/educationists/technologists in the region.

All Members & Governing Council

The Governing Council of the Polytechnic includes representatives of the Shivapur Sikshana Samiti, Department of Technical Education, All-India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE) and industries, educationists and technologists in the region.

Founder Patron - Late Dr. M.Y. Ghorpade
Late Dr. M.Y. Ghorpade, an MA from Cambridge, had always been deeply committed to the cause of education and human resource development. He was Minister of Karnataka’s Rural Development for several years. He was the patron of the Shivapur Sikshana Samiti, which is responsible for the management of the Polytechnic.
