As part of our Skill Week Initiative, our MSW students at the Department of Social Work, VSK University PG Centre, Nandihalli-Sandur, created and presented informative posters on important areas of Social Work, Human Resource Management and professional practice.

The activity encouraged students to research, organise information, communicate ideas visually and present their understanding with confidence. It also helped connect classroom learning with practical professional situations.

🎓 STRUCTURE OF MASTER OF SOCIAL WORK (MSW) COURSE

What makes an MSW programme professionally relevant? It is not just classroom learning—it is the integration of theory, field practice, skills, research and professional specialization.

The Master of Social Work (MSW) programme offered by the Department of Studies in Social Work, Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, is a two-year postgraduate programme divided into four semesters, with 24 credits and 600 marks in each semester.

📚 THEORY & CORE SOCIAL WORK EDUCATION
Students develop a strong foundation through subjects such as:
• Social Work Profession – History and Ideology
• Social & Psychological Foundations for Social Work Practice
• Social Case Work
• Social Group Work
• Community Organization
• Social Work Research & Statistics
• Social Welfare Administration & Social Action
• Social Policy, Planning & Development
• Communication & Counseling
• Legal System & Social Legislation in India

🌱 PRACTICAL & FIELD-BASED LEARNING
The programme places strong emphasis on learning by doing through:
• Concurrent Field Work
• Social Work Camp
• Field-based practice and supervision
• Block Placement in Semester IV

🔬 RESEARCH & EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE
Students are introduced to:
• Research Methodology
• Social Work Research & Statistics

Theory: 30% Internal Assessment + 70% Semester Examination
Practical: 20% Internal Assessment + 30% Summative Assessment
Projects: 30% Internal Assessment + 70% Summative Assessment
