The Department of Applied Psychology, GITAM (Deemed to be University), Hyderabad, invites research project staff applications for an ICSSR-funded major research project titled, “Development and Assessment of a Trauma-Informed Intervention for Teachers to Address Psychological Trauma within School Settings’’

The project seeks to explore

• How teachers perceive and respond to psychological trauma in students
• The challenges teachers face while navigating trauma within classroom spaces
• The role of school environments in shaping psychological safety and well-being

Insights from this research will contribute toward the development and assessment of a Trauma-Informed (TI) Intervention for Teachers, aimed at fostering safer, emotionally supportive, and psychologically healthier classrooms.

The Department of Media Studies, GITAM Hyderabad, in collaboration with the Department of Media and Communication, MIT World Peace University (MIT-WPU), Pune, successfully conducted a 15-day National Academic Immersion Program from May 1 to May 15.

As part of this initiative, 71 final-year media students from MIT-WPU participated in an intensive two-week academic experience covering courses in Media Management Practices, Motion Graphics, Experimental Animation, TV Production, and Sound Design offered by the faculty of Media Studies at GITAM.

The program also provided exposure through visits to professional studio, Ramoji Film City, and key historical landmarks in Hyderabad.

The program was coordinated by Mr. Bullard Sujeevan Kumar, Assistant Professor of Media Studies at GITAM, and Dr. Aquil Ahmad Khan, Assistant Professor of Media and Communication at MIT-WPU.

The school congratulates the Department of Media Studies, its leadership, faculty, and non-teaching staff of the university, whose efforts made this initiative possible.

From Freud’s Dora to Le Guin’s Omelas, from silenced histories to monstrous selves, their performances explored resistance, rupture, and voice.

The fifth talk of Research Dialogues- the Fortnightly Faculty Seminar Series organised by the IRC-GSHS Hyderabad, was delivered on 23rd April 2026 by Dr Afreen Waseem, Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Psychology. She spoke on "Living in fear: The psychological impact of the threat of sexual violence on women in India”. It was based on her paper published in _Analyses of Social Issues and Public Policy journal_ (Wiley), Sept. 2025 (Q1- SJR 2025).
The paper explores how the perceived threat of sexual violence affects the psychological well-being and daily behaviour of women aged 20-30 in northern India, with a focus on fear, stress, and anxiety. The talk saw active participation from the faculty and it concluded with an engaging discussion, fostering critical reflection on gender, safety, and psychological well-being of women in contemporary India.

The IRC-GSHS organised the Students' Start-up Proposal Presentation today. Three students from GSHS, Hajera Anwar, Kripa Katyayini Garje, & Manisha Veluri, presented their start-up proposal for a new handloom garment brand. This is the first start-up proposal emerging from GSHS, & the three students spoke about their new journey & the ways they plan to take it forward. The start-up plan was appreciated by the faculty and students who attended the presentation, and wished them the very best. Dr Abhilash from the English department co-ordinated the event.
