We organized a crucial awareness drive on new voter registration, graced by the presence of Shri Shambhu Rathee (HCS), along with the Tehsildar and Kanungo. The distinguished guests engaged with our students, emphasizing the importance of participating in the democratic process, and conducted a live, online voter registration demonstration to make the procedure easily understandable for the youth.

The event took place in the presence of Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar, who encouraged the students to recognize the power of their vote and register responsibly.

The program was anchored by Dr. S.S. Kajal and saw active participation from faculty members, including Sh. Siddhant, Dr. Ajay Kumar Arora, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Ms. Neha, and Ms. Gagandeep Kaur.

We celebrated Independence Day with immense fervor, echoing the powerful message that "devotion to duty is true patriotism." The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Chief Guest and College Management Committee President Yashpal Wadhwa, alongside Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar, in the esteemed presence of the Principal's wife, Mrs. Veena Chaudhary, his daughter, Ms. Avni Chaudhary, and management committee members Sh. Vijay Malik Anand, Sh. Prem Nath Gambhir, and Sh. Sanjeev Kalra. The patriotic spirit was brought to life through vibrant cultural performances by NCC cadets and NSS volunteers, highlighted by a soul-stirring flute rendition of the National Anthem by NSS volunteer Mrinal, under the guidance of Dr. Bhavini Tejpal.
President Shri Yashpal Wadhwa, Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Surendra Kajal, and Dr. Devraj inspired the students, emphasizing that a nation's true strength lies in the character, discipline, and responsible actions of its youth.
The stage was effectively conducted by Captain Dr. Suresh Kumar, and the event was graced by other prominent attendees, including Dr. Sunil Gupta and Prof. Harpal Singh Saini, as well as the college's teaching and non-teaching staff.

Under the 'Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign–2026', The Markanda National College's Library, YRC, and NSS units jointly organized a thought-provoking event to observe 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' on August 14, 2026. The program featured an extension lecture by Dr. Ajay Kumar Arora, who highlighted the historical background and profound human tragedy of the 1947 partition, followed by the screening of the documentary "India: Untold Story" for around 50 students. Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar encouraged the youth to draw lessons from these historical struggles to foster peace, mutual brotherhood, and national unity.

The NSS, NCC, The MNC Library and Eco Club o our college jointly organized a series of awareness and creative activities under Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan–2026 and Partition Horrors Remembrance Day–2026, as per the directions of the Directorate of Higher Education, Haryana.

With the support of Naveen Jindal Foundation, around 100 NSS, YRC and NCC students participated in a spirited Har Ghar Tiranga Rally. Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar addressed the students on the significance of the Tricolour, national unity and the sacrifices of freedom fighters.

The MNC Library organized a special Book and Coins Exhibition showcasing rare books on the 1857 uprising, freedom movements and great national leaders.

On 10 August 2026, Poster Making and Paragraph Writing Competitions were organized, with 20 students expressing their thoughts on patriotism and the tragedy of Partition.

Inner Wheel Club, Shahabad Markanda, organized a tree plantation drive under the joint aegis of NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross, Eco Club, and The MNC Library.of our college.

The programme was graced by Mrs. Rani Wadhwa, President, Inner Wheel Club, along with Mrs. Ritu Aggarwal, Mrs. Madhu Modgil, Mrs. Poonam Kakkar, Mrs. Goldy Aujla, and Mrs. Savita Gupta. More than 25 saplings were planted, with students actively participating in the campaign.

Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar emphasized the importance of nurturing and protecting the planted trees, while Mrs. Rani Wadhwa encouraged students to take responsibility for creating a greener environment.

In a commendable gesture towards education and social welfare, the Inner Wheel Club also sponsored the college fees of two B.Com. Final Year students, providing financial assistance of ₹31,000.

The NCC Unit of our College organized a Certificate Distribution Ceremony under the supervision of Captain Dr. Suresh Kumar.

The ceremony was graced by Principal Dr. Ashok Kumar, along with Dr. S. S. Kajal. Congratulating the cadets, Dr. Ashok Kumar wished them success in their future endeavours.

In the NCC C Certificate Examination 2026, 14 cadets qualified, with 6 securing Alpha Grade and 8 securing Beta Grade. In the B Certificate Examination, 10 cadets qualified, including 4 with Alpha Grade, while the remaining cadets secured Beta Grade.

On the occasion, Under Officer Sahil Saroy, Sergeant Kulvinder, and Sergeant A***n shared their experiences from the three-year NCC training programme and motivated their juniors to achieve excellence through hard work, discipline, and dedication.
