Indian Institute of Management, Shillong, was setup by the Government of India in the state of Meghalaya in the year 2007. Scenic beauty envelopes the institute and complements its theme of Sustainability. The meticulously framed curriculum and the Case based pedagogy are aimed at preparing the participants in all aspects of management before they enter the corporate arena. The curriculum is a rich blend of compulsory and elective courses supplemented by some specialized courses. The campus boasts of high-tech infrastructure ranging from Smart boards to Video Conferencing facilities and is a Wi-Fi enabled campus. The participants are provided with the best academic, residential and recreational facilities. The institute aims at setting new trends in education and helping its participants to grow in all facets of life. The institute was the first ever in the country to start the Annual Golf Cup, an event which is unique in its own way. The event acts as a unique pedestal where the students interact with peers from other leading B schools and the eminent personalities of the Corporate World. IIM Shillong is honoured to welcome Shri Pritam Dutta, Director, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, as the Guest of Honour for EmergE 2026, the 16th edition of its flagship entrepreneurship summit, organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell.

Representing the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Dutta brings a valuable institutional perspective to the role of skill development in fostering innovation, strengthening entrepreneurial capabilities and supporting enterprise growth in India.

His presence aligns closely with this year’s theme, “India’s Next Chapter: Enterprise, Innovation and Global Leadership,” which highlights the importance of building a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem and preparing India for emerging opportunities.

IIM Shillong is honoured to welcome Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan as the Chief Guest for EmergE 2026, the 16th edition of its flagship entrepreneurship summit, organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell.

A distinguished leader in India’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem, Mr. Ramanathan serves as a Member of the National Expert Advisory Council on Technology, Innovation & Incubation, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, and as a Governing Board Member of the IndiaAI Mission.

Previously, he served as the Founder Mission Director of Atal Innovation Mission and Additional Secretary at NITI Aayog, contributing significantly to the advancement of innovation and entrepreneurship across India.

His extensive experience in fostering innovation, strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems and enabling technology-driven growth aligns closely with this year’s theme, “India’s Next Chapter: Enterprise, Innovation and Global Leadership.”

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Madhurima Deb to IIM Shillong as Professor in the Marketing area.

Dr. Deb began her professional journey as an Assistant Manager in a consulting firm in 2007 and brings with her a rich blend of industry, research, and academic experience. With over four years of research experience and more than two decades of teaching excellence, she has made significant contributions to the field of marketing scholarship.

Her research has been published in leading A* and A category journals listed in the ABDC 2022 rankings, including the European Journal of Marketing, Marketing Intelligence & Planning, International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, Journal of Destination Marketing & Management, and International Journal of Hospitality Management, among others.
