A one-day hands-on workshop on UI/UX in Real Applications was successfully organized by ASTROS – First Year Students’ Organization, Department of Science and Humanities, SRIEIT, Shiroda. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the fundamental concepts and practical aspects of User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) design.

The session was conducted by Ms. Purva Vaingankar, a professional UI/UX Designer from Designway, Panjim. She began the workshop by explaining the core principles of UI and UX, emphasizing the importance of user-centered design, usability, and visual communication in modern digital applications. The session also highlighted the role of UI/UX design in real-world applications such as mobile apps, websites, e-commerce platforms, and software systems, helping students understand how good design improves user satisfaction and accessibility.

The workshop was highly interactive and practice-oriented. Students actively participated in various hands-on activities, where they applied the concepts learned during the session. They were guided through the basis process of designing like Logos, Posters and Basic 3D animations. These activities enabled students to explore their creativity while gaining practical exposure to design tools and techniques. Overall, the workshop was informative and engaging, providing valuable insights into the field of UI/UX design. It also encouraged students to develop their creative thinking and consider UI/UX as a potential career path.

🌍 International Visit at RIT-Goa! 🤝

South African development and trade influencer Nicolette Matuku, Managing Director of Walking the African Journey (active across 53 countries in Africa), is currently visiting India.

As part of her visit to Goa, she toured Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (RIT-Goa) to gain insights into advancements in STEM, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence.

International Collaboration at RIT-Goa! 🤝

Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology had the privilege of hosting a distinguished delegation from Zimbabwe, marking a significant step towards global academic collaboration.

The visit was graced by Dr. Doreen Makande, Mr. Philip Maodza, and Mr. Shedrick from the Solid Rock Group of Schools, Harare, Zimbabwe.

The discussions focused on a Student Exchange Program, aimed at fostering cross-cultural learning, academic enrichment, and international exposure for students. The delegates also conducted a comprehensive inspection of the campus facilities, appreciating the infrastructure, laboratories, and academic environment at RIT-Goa.

AI Reshaping Modern Software Testing

The Department of Information Technology Student’s Association – ELITE organized an insightful Guest Lecture on “AI Reshaping Modern Software Testing” on 7th April 2026. The session was delivered by Mr. Shane Ray Furtado, Senior Quality Engineer at Persistent Systems Ltd.
Mr. Shane Ray Furtado shared valuable insights on how Artificial Intelligence is transforming the field of software testing. He explained the shift from traditional testing approaches to AI-driven testing methodologies, highlighting automation, predictive analysis, and intelligent test case generation. He also emphasized the importance of adapting to modern tools and acquiring relevant skills to stay competitive in the evolving IT industry.

The session was highly interactive, allowing students to engage in discussions, explore real-world industry scenarios, and clarify their queries related to AI in testing.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Mr. Shane Ray Furtado for sharing his knowledge and expertise, and for inspiring students to explore emerging trends in software testing.

🎗️ Health Awareness Programme: Understanding Cancer – Unity by Unique 🎗️

The Health Club of our institution successfully organized a Cancer Awareness Programme titled “Understanding Cancer – Unity by Unique” for faculty members, with the objective of enhancing awareness on cancer prevention, early detection, and management.

The session was delivered by Dr. Premitha R., Senior Radiation Oncologist from Dr. Moopen Medical College and Hospital, Wayanad. The resource person shared valuable clinical insights and emphasized the important role faculty can play in promoting health awareness within the academic community.

The seminar covered key aspects including the fundamental concept of cancer, explained through Uncontrolled Cell Division, major causes and risk factors, and the role of infections such as Human Papillomavirus Infection. An overview of global cancer statistics was also presented with reference to the World Health Organization.

Further, the session highlighted various types of cancer, gender-specific prevalence, and the importance of lifestyle modifications, vaccination, and regular screening. An interactive MCQ segment encouraged active participation and reinforced key learning outcomes.

The programme also addressed common myths associated with cancer, helping to reduce stigma and promote accurate understanding among participants.

This initiative reflects the Health Club’s commitment to promoting health education and fostering a culture of awareness and prevention. The programme was highly informative and well-received by all faculty members.

We are proud to share that the student research project titled “Vision-driven Assistive Communication and Control using Electrooculography” from the Department of Computer Engineering at Shree Rayeshwar Institute of Engineering and Information Technology has been awarded a research grant of ₹50,000 by the Department of Science and Technology and Waste Management, Government of Goa and implemented through the Goa State Innovation Council Society, under the Scheme to Encourage Students for Innovative Projects.

This project has been developed by our final-year Computer Engineering students , , and under the guidance of Prof. K. M. Chaman Kumar.

This award is a recognition of the students innovative approach toward developing assistive technology that enables communication and control through eye-movement signals. It also reflects the vibrant research culture at our institute, where students are encouraged to explore real-world challenges, work on impactful ideas, and transform their academic learning into meaningful outcomes.

We congratulate the team on this commendable achievement and appreciate their dedication to research that aims to create meaningful and inclusive technological solutions.
