🌍 Popular Talk on “Understanding BRICS: Economics, Geopolitics and India in the Emerging World Order”

The Department of Economics, Sibsagar University successfully organised a Popular Talk on “Understanding BRICS: Economics, Geopolitics and India in the Emerging World Order” on 26 September 2026 via virtual mode.

The session was delivered by Dr. Supriya Hazarika, Post-doctoral Fellow, National Law University of Meghalaya, who shared valuable insights into the evolving economic and geopolitical significance of BRICS and its implications for India in the emerging world order.

The interactive session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and academic members, making it an enriching platform for understanding contemporary global economic and geopolitical developments

The 7th Semester students, particularly who are opting for the Degrees with Research program in the Department of Economics, Sibsagar University , have completed three days national workshop (ICSSR) on 'Basics of Research Projects and Research Paper Writing.'

The event was organised by Dikhowmukh College, Dibrugarh University, from 17th to 19th August, 2026.

The Department of Economics, Sibsagar University, successfully holds the first newly constructed Board of Studies meeting today. The meeting was graced by two external subject experts Prof. Mrinal Kanti Dutta from IIT Guwahati, and Prof. Pranjal Protim Buragohain, Dibrugarh University, along with all the faculty members of the Department.

The Department of Economics, Sibsagar University, successfully conducted an Orientation Programme with the Sivasagar Municipal Board for students participating in the upcoming internship programme.

The session provided valuable insights into the functioning of local administration, public service delivery, and the dynamics of citizen-government interaction. Such exposure will help students bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world governance, fostering a deeper understanding of administrative processes and community engagement.

The Department expresses its sincere gratitude to the Sivasagar Municipal Board for their cooperation and support in making this initiative meaningful and enriching for our students.

The Department of Economics, Sibsagar University successfully concluded its Community Work Drive in connection with the FYUGP 4th Semester Community Work Course in collaboration with Prayash Development Society, Sibsagar, Assam.

Through 60 hours of compulsory community engagement, the students actively participated in resource mobilization, collection of reusable items, and outreach activities aimed at supporting underprivileged communities. The initiative fostered social responsibility, teamwork, empathy, and sustainable practices among students.

We sincerely thank all community members, volunteers, and our NGO partner for making this programme a success.
