Sanchaman Limboo Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing It is running in college is established at Yangthang, Tikjeck 5km away from the District Headquarter Gyalshing.

Sikkim Government College, Yangthang, Gyalshing was established on 28th of June 2011, as an institute designed to cater to the growing needs of higher education for the students of West Districts of Sikkim and other parts of the country in general. It is a co-educational institute and is affiliated to Sikkim University.The college follows the Semester system and the medium of teaching is English.

The college offers General and Honours courses in English, Economics, History, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Physical Education, Education, Tourism, Nepali, Bhutia, Limboo, Lepcha and commerce. A total of 60 Lecturers constitute the strength of the teaching faculty.

PRESS RELEASE FOR 2025 SRC ELECTIONS, SANACHAMAN LIMBOO GOVERNMENT COLLEGE, AARIGOAN, GYALSHING

As per notification no. 443/DIR(HE)/EDN dated 03/11/2025 issued by the Directorate of Higher Education, Education Department, Government of Sikkim declared the schedule for Student Representative Council Elections across all government colleges in Sikkim. In compliance to the notice, Sanachaman Limboo Government College also released the declaration for SRC Elections 2025 vide notification no. 202/SMLGC/GYAL/EDN/W/2025 dated 5/11/25.

After nomination, filing and rigorous scrutiny a total number of 20 candidates were finalized. Within this 20 candidates, 3 candidates contested for the post of President, 2 for the post of General Secretary, 2 for the post of Treasurer and 13 for the post of Class Representatives of their respective semester. One candidate contesting for the post of Class Representative of B.Com IIIrd Semester emerged as an uncontested candidate.

Apart from this the remaining 19 candidates contested the general body SRC elections held on 21st November 2025. Total number of voters who cast the vote for SRC Election 2025 is 1029 out of 1504 voters. The total voters turn out of SRC Election 2025 was 68.41%.

A total of 29 students and two faculty members from Sanchaman Limboo Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing, participated in the "Mega Voluntary Blood Donation Camp" held at the Dentam PHC, Programme Hall on 16th November 2025. The event was organised by Voluntary Blood Donors Association of Sikkim (VBDAS) on the birthday of Dr. Baroon S***a, honoured his long-standing contribution as the 'Father of the Voluntary Blood Donation Movement in Sikkim.'
The camp aimed to support patients of Namchi and Geyzing District Hospitals by ensuring an adequate and timely supply of blood.
After the camp, students visited Changey Waterfall, Sidkeong Tulku Bird Park, Rabdentse Palace as part of a short educational and recreational tour.

“Educational Field Trip Report to Yuksom, West Sikkim”

The Department of Tourism, Sanchaman Limboo Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing organized an educational field trip to Yuksom, West Sikkim for the 5th Semester Tourism Honours students from 8th to 10th November 2025. The trip was conducted under the guidance of the department faculties- Dr. Dawa Doma Sherpa, Assistant Professor and Head, Mr. Amit Rai, and Mr. Sangam Rai (Assistant Professors).
The main objective of the visit was to provide students with hands-on experience in camping activities, along with first- hand exposure to tourism resources, heritage and historical sites, and sustainable tourism practices. This field- based learning experience aims to enhance their practical understanding of the subject as part of their academic curriculum. Students also conducted a research survey as part of their 2nd Sessional Test during the visit.
During the field trip, students explored major tourist attractions such as Dubdi Monastery, Coronation Throne, Karthok Lake, and Kiwi Garden, and the starting point of the Dzongri-Goechala Trek. They interacted with local homestay owners, guides, and community members to understand the socio-economic impacts of tourism. A short trekking and camping activity was also conducted to experience adventure tourism in the region.
Both students and faculty members stayed in tents during the trip, which provided them with firsthand experiences of camping-based tourism and outdoor learning.
The students also observed the presence of well organized waste management system under the Rural Development Department (RDD), which plays an important role in maintaining cleanliness and promoting sustainable tourism in Yuksom.
The trip helped students gain hand-on-experience in data collection and field research. It also enhanced their understanding of ecotourism, community participation, and responsible tourism.
Overall, the field trip to Yuksom was educational, informative, and provided valuable insights into sustainable tourism practices in Sikkim.

EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO KALIMPONG DISTRICT, WEST BENGAL, INDIA (04/11/2025)

The Department of Lepcha, SML Government College, Aarigaon, Gyalshing, organised an Educational Excursion for the 5th Semester B.A. Lepcha (Honours) students to Kalimpong District, West Bengal, and its surrounding areas. The excursion aimed to provide students with practical exposure to Lepcha history, culture, and heritage.
During the visit, the team explored the Lepcha Museum, established by Padma Shri Lopen Sonam Tshering Tamsang, and the historic Damsang Dee (Fort) of Punu Gaybu Achyok, the Lepcha King.
The day concluded with a blessed interaction with Ren. P.T. Lepcha Simikmu Lopen at his residence, 5th Mile, Kalimpong District, who graciously donated several books and Naamthaar Chyo (Lepcha Holy Books) to the College.
On behalf of the Department, Mr. Pem Dorjee Lepcha (HOD & Assistant Professor) and Mr. Dadup Tshering Lepcha (Assistant Professor) expressed heartfelt gratitude to Lopen Simikmu and his family for their generous contribution and blessings.
Lastly, sincere thanks to Ren. Lawan Lepcha, Nepali Language Teacher, Kalimpong, for his continuous guidance and support throughout the excursion.
