Proud Moment for NITS at Semicon India 2025
We proudly congratulates the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering for a landmark institutional achievement at Semicon India 2025.
At this historic event, India presented the first set of Made-in-India chips from a pilot production line to the Hon’ble Prime Minister, marking a major step in building a trusted and globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem. Amidst this proud national moment, NIT Silchar’s very own Neural Amplifier Frontend IC (C2S0042), designed under the prestigious Chip to Startup (C2S) initiative funded by MeitY, Govt. of India, was among the chips showcased.
Project Title: Design & Development of Low Power Low Latency Non-Invasive Seizure Detector System
Fabrication: Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali
Core Features:
Four low-noise neural amplifiers for EEG signal acquisition
600 Hz bandwidth to capture high-frequency oscillations (HFOs) during seizures
Noise-immune amplifier and low-pass filter for signal conditioning
Indigenous IP core for real-time seizure prediction
This innovation forms the heart of a fully indigenous wearable device aimed at early detection and prediction of epileptic seizures, providing pre-emptive alerts to patients and improving their quality of life.
Team behind the achievement:
Prof. K. L. Baishnab – Chief Investigator
Dr. Koushik Guha – Co-Chief Investigator & HoD, ECE
Dr. Sourav Nath – Project Associate-II & Lead Designer
We extend gratitude to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, for recognizing and sharing this achievement on his official platform.
We also thank our Director, NIT Silchar, for his constant support and motivation.
Finally, we acknowledge MeitY, Govt. of India, for enabling this project through the C2S initiative.
This accomplishment is not only a proud moment for the ECE Department, but also for the entire NIT Silchar and Assam, as we contribute to India’s journey of becoming a global semiconductor hub.
