S. Biswanath, P. Mrenika Reddy, and Harsh*th Choudhry just turned a last-minute hackathon application into a ₹80,000 win at the DP World Hackathon, organised by E-Cell BPHC.

Shortlisted from 600+ teams to the Top 65, the team battled through an intense 24-hour challenge packed with rapid problem-solving, pressure, deadlines, and nonstop iteration.

Their solution focused on building a logistics-tech platform aimed at solving inefficiencies in supply chain movement through practical innovation and ex*****on.

Mentored by Pardha Saradhi and Vineet Kumar from the Venture Development Centre, GITAM Hyderabad, the team showcased the kind of resilience, initiative, and entrepreneurial thinking that thrives beyond the classroom.

Prof. P Bharani Chandra at GITAM University has developed an autonomous underwater vehicle that changes that. It monitors pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and temperature across entire ponds in real time, sends data offline via radio frequency, and issues instant alerts when anything goes wrong.

No fixed sensors with blind spots. No delayed lab reports. Just comprehensive, mobile, real-time monitoring that gives farmers a fighting chance.

Incredibly proud to share that SGT Mohit Mourya Velaga has been selected for YEP Russia 🇷🇺 and SGT Swarna Kolagotla for YEP United Kingdom 🇬🇧, both part of the prestigious NCC Youth Exchange Programme, and both from GITAM’s very own 2(A) CTR Unit NCC.

Selected from cadets across the entire country, this is a massive achievement and a proud moment for everyone at GITAM.

From $55K to raising $500M+, a journey powered by purpose.

Viswa Colluru, GITAM alumnus (Biotechnology, 2011) and Founder & CEO of Enveda Biosciences, has built a clinical-stage biotech unicorn by combining AI with the chemistry of medicinal plants to discover new medicines. In an era where AI is transforming industries, his work is advancing its role in shaping the future of medicine. With 300+ employees, 18 drug candidates, and multiple programs in human clinical trials, Enveda represents a new frontier in drug discovery.

During his time at GITAM, studying biotechnology while navigating personal loss, he found inspiration in a chapter on cancer and the early concept of immunotherapy. The idea that the immune system could be harnessed to fight disease shaped his belief in pursuing bold scientific challenges that could change lives.

He advises students and young professionals to pursue ideas that have been tried and failed, understand them deeply enough to explain simply, and focus on meaningful problems over chasing money, noting that building something impactful requires resilience and the ability to navigate uncertainty.
