Congratulations to Dr. Subhasish Roy and Dr Pallabi Borah from the Department of Chemistry and Dr. Bikash Bora from the Department of Physics, Assam Don Bosco University, on the successful publication of their collaborative research work on Environmental Remediation in the reputed journal ChemistrySelect (Wiley).

The Department of Chemistry, Assam Don Bosco University organised an industrial visit to the Dalmia Cement unit at Jagiroad on 28th October 2025. The visit was attended by the students of M.Sc. 3rd Semester and B.Sc. 5th Semester, along with the faculty members.
During the visit, the students gained practical exposure to the cement manufacturing process, quality control systems, and environmental management practices adopted by the industry. The interaction with technical personnel provided valuable insights linking theoretical concepts with real industrial applications.

The visit was informative and beneficial, contributing to the academic and practical understanding of the students.

The Department of Chemistry, Assam Don Bosco University, Tapesia Campus, observed National Unity Day on 31st October 2025 by organizing a Unity Walk to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the “Iron Man of India.” The event aimed to promote the values of national unity, integrity, and collective responsibility among students.
All B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of the Department actively participated in the Unity Walk along with all faculty members. The walk was through all academic blocks of the university, symbolizing the message of unity through collective movement and shared purpose across the campus. Students carried placards displaying messages of peace, national integration, and harmony.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation and was successfully coordinated, making it a meaningful observance of National Unity Day.

The Department of Chemistry, Assam Don Bosco University, Tapesia Campus, organized a Career Counselling Session on 29th October as part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, themed “Vigilance – Our Shared Responsibility.” Dr. Buljit Buragohain, Assistant Professor, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was the resource person for the session. In his address, Dr. Buragohain provided insights into higher education opportunities in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and stressed on the value of interdisciplinary learning in the present academic and professional landscape. He also offered guidance on preparing for competitive examinations such as UPSC and State Civil Services (CCE), while highlighting current industry requirements, skill enhancement and entrepreneurship prospects. He encouraged students to recognise their personal strengths and explore possibilities of transforming their hobbies and interests into meaningful career pathways.

Department of Chemistry in collaboration with Green Chapter foundation, Guwahati in association with Pollution Control Board, Assam successfully organised a one day workshop on "Air Pollution and our right to breathe clean air" on 9th April, 2025. The event was graciously sponsored by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) and Oil India Limited (OIL).

This workshop brought together eminent speakers and environmental experts who shared their valuable insights on strategies and technologies to combat air pollution—one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the resource persons, participants, collaborators, and sponsors for making this initiative a grand success.
