The story behind the name 'Kintsugi':

The word 'Kintsugi' is a is an ancient Japanese art of re-joining pieces of broken objects with a lacquer that is mixed with gold, silver, or platinum. The philosophy behind this is to find beauty in things that are seemingly broken. Rather than replacing broken objects, kintsugi is a technique of restoration, coupled with reverence and wonder. In the same wa

y, we believe that people do not stop being beautiful, despite their mental illnesses that often break them. 'Kintsugi' aims to act as the lacquer, attempting to make people undergoing mental health issues, feel beautiful and respected.
