The RSPL Pilgrim Survey – Maha Kumbh 2025 was officially launched at the C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre, New Delhi in the presence of distinguished academicians, policymakers, and thought leaders.

The report was launched by Dr. Shamika Ravi, Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) and Member of the Committee on Demographic Change, along with Prof. (Dr.) Shobhit Mathur, Shri Sahil Agarwal, Shri Ashok Mittal; Dr. Manjistha Banerji, and Dr. Arunoday Majumder.

The research was led by Dr. Manjistha Banerji and Dr. Arunoday Majumder whose field-based study offers a nuanced understanding of one of the world's largest religious gatherings through the lived experiences of pilgrims.

Based on extensive fieldwork at the Maha Kumbh 2025, the survey explores how pilgrims understand religion, social norms, gender roles, political affiliation, and national identity within a lived religious setting.

The findings challenge conventional assumptions by revealing that deep religiosity coexists with education, tradition evolves alongside modernity, and large-scale religious gatherings serve as dynamic spaces where civilizational memory and contemporary realities intersect.

The second opinion piece from the RSPL Pilgrim Survey – Maha Kumbh 2025 challenges one of the most common assumptions about religion and social change in India. Co-authored by Arunoday Majumdar and Manjistha Banerjee, faculty members at the Rashtram School of Public Leadership, Rishihood University, the article, published in The Telegraph, explores how religious belief intersects with evolving gender norms through insights from 1,415 pilgrims surveyed during the Maha Kumbh 2025.

The findings present a far more nuanced picture than conventional binaries of tradition versus modernity. While a majority of respondents continue to value traditional practices such as sons performing last rites, they also overwhelmingly support daughters doing so in the absence of male relatives. Similarly, strong support emerged for married daughters' rights to inherit parental property, even among deeply religious respondents.

At the same time, the survey reveals that resistance to inter-caste marriages remains one of the strongest and most enduring social boundaries across communities.

This article is the second public insight from the RSPL Maha Kumbh 2025 Survey Report, a comprehensive study funded by the Rashtram School of Public Leadership, Rishihood University.

Simple descriptive analysis at Mahakumbh appears to belie the commonly-held assumption that the religious among Hindus are more rigid than the rest in subscribing to faith-sanctioned norms

As Policy BootCamp '26 celebrated its 10th edition, Rashtram School of Public Leadership, Rishihood University proudly unveiled the official Policy BootCamp Anthem—a tribute to a decade of nurturing public leaders committed to building Bharat.

More than a song, the anthem captures the spirit of every delegate who has walked through the corridors of Policy BootCamp with curiosity, conviction, and a commitment to public service. It celebrates ten years of meaningful conversations, transformative experiences, lifelong friendships, and a shared vision of nation-building.

For a decade, Policy BootCamp has brought together aspiring policymakers, civil servants, entrepreneurs, researchers, and changemakers from across India, equipping them with the knowledge, values, and leadership needed to shape the future of governance.

As the anthem echoed through the Convocation ceremony, it became a celebration of every idea debated, every challenge embraced, and every leader inspired over the past ten years.

This is more than an anthem. It is the voice of a generation that believes in leading with purpose, serving with integrity, and shaping the future of Bharat.

Here's to the next decade of inspiring ideas, courageous leadership, and transformative public policy.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨 𝐌𝐚𝐡𝐚 𝐊𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐡 𝐩𝐢𝐥𝐠𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐯𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬?

The answer is far more complex than conventional political narratives suggest.

In the first public insight from the upcoming RSPL Pilgrim Survey - Mahakumbh 2025, faculty members Arunoday Majumder and Manjistha Banerji examine the beliefs, values, and political attitudes of 1,415 pilgrims surveyed across 27 sectors of the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

The survey reveals a generation that is deeply religious, highly educated, politically engaged, and often internally contradictory. It highlights how strong faith can coexist with support for certain social reforms, how electoral preferences do not always translate into ideological conformity, and how young Indians are negotiating questions of identity, tradition, citizenship, and modernity in nuanced ways.

At a time when political discourse often reduces voters to simplistic categories, the survey offers a richer understanding of the social and cultural forces shaping India's evolving political landscape.

This article is the first public snippet from the Rashtram Maha Kumbh 2025 Survey Report, a comprehensive study funded by the Rashtram School of Public Leadership, Rishihood University, which will be released later this month.
