On April 30, 2024, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering & Technology organized a seminar titled "Sensors in Healthcare." This seminar aimed to delve into the pivotal role of sensors in revolutionizing healthcare practices. Hosted at the Bosch Centre, the event garnered active participation from faculty members and students, eager to explore the intersection of technology and healthcare.

The seminar commenced with a warm welcome address by the Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Dr. Pawan Kumar Singh, setting the stage for an insightful discourse on sensor technology in healthcare.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Ranjit Roy, the Dean of Engineering and Technology with a warm welcome to the guest speaker by presenting tokens of respect. Following this, he delivered an introductory address, highlighting the significance of integrating sensor technology into healthcare systems to enhance patient care and medical diagnostics.

Prof. V Samuel Raj, the Registrar and Dean Academics Affairs, delivered special remarks on the seminar's theme. His insights further emphasized the importance of leveraging sensor technology to address healthcare challenges. He highlighted the recent advances in mechatronics, Internet of Things (IoT), wearable devices, and the miniaturization of sensors and electronics have significantly increased the capabilities of smart sensors enlarging the range of their applications. In his address, he also emphasized that at-risk patients such as elderly people with diabetes, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and heart irregularities have a lot to gain from these wearables. He suggested taking up a few major projects on how the continuous collection of different sensors can allow for more reliable medical evaluation at a distance, promoting online prescriptions, and reducing the frequency of face-to-face consultations.
