BHSS Sopore Participates in National Webinar on Solid & E-Waste Management
As part of the lead-up to Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and Special Campaign 6.0, Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore actively participated in the National-Level Webinar on Solid Waste Management & E-Waste Management, organised by DoSEL, Ministry of Education, under the aegis of Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE.
The webinar, chaired by the Secretary (SE&L), Ministry of Education, brought into focus the urgent need for responsible waste management, environmental consciousness and sustainable practices among students and educational institutions.
The participation of BHSS Sopore reflects the institution’s continued commitment to nurturing environmentally responsible citizens and translating the spirit of Mission LiFE into meaningful action.

BHSS Sopore has done it again, and this time the boys have brought home the title.
The Inter-School Football Championship, organised by 179 CRPF Battalion under its Civic Action Programme, brought together 12 teams from schools and educational institutions across Sopore and the adjoining areas. The tournament provided a lively platform for young footballers to compete, test their skills and, above all, experience the spirit of sportsmanship.
Among the participating teams were SRM Welkin School Sopore, Sanctorum Institute, BHSS Sopore, Valley Public School, Apex Public School, Muslim Educational Trust School, Army Goodwill School, Rehmat-e-Alam School, Gulzar Memorial Education Trust, Zone Dangarpora, BHSS Bomai and GMS Mazbugh.
BHSS Sopore began its campaign with purpose and gradually gathered momentum as the competition progressed. In the quarter-final, the team produced a convincing 2–0 victory over GMET Nowpora, earning its place in the semi-final.
The semi-final brought a tougher challenge against Army Goodwill School. In a closely contested encounter, the BHSS boys held their nerve and secured a hard-fought 1–0 victory, booking their place in the final.
Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.
In the final, BHSS Sopore faced SRM Welkin School Sopore. The final carried the usual pressure of a championship match, but the BHSS boys stayed composed, played with confidence and converted their opportunities. When the final whistle went, the scoreboard read BHSS Sopore 2–0 SRM Welkin.
And just like that, BHSS Sopore emerged as the champions of the Inter-School Football Championship.
What makes the victory special is not merely the trophy. It is the journey behind it: teamwork, discipline, persistence and the belief that a school football team can stand tall against some of the strongest sides in the competition.
The championship also reflects the importance of initiatives such as the Civic Action Programme of 179 CRPF Battalion, which create opportunities for young people to come together through sport, compete in a healthy environment and discover the value of teamwork beyond the classroom.
For BHSS Sopore, the tournament ended with a trophy. But for the players, it leaves something more lasting: the memory of a campaign in which they fought together, trusted each other and finished as champions.
Quarter-final: BHSS Sopore 2–0 GMET Nowpora
Semi-final: BHSS Sopore 1–0 Army Goodwill School
Final: BHSS Sopore 2–0 SRM Welkin School
Three matches. Three victories. No goals conceded. Champions.

The entire family of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Sopore proudly congratulates our esteemed colleague, Mr. Sheikh Zaid Ahmad, on his selection to represent India in the Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team for the upcoming Sri Lanka Tour.
Zaid's journey is a story of resilience, determination, and an indomitable spirit.
