SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation & Entrepreneurship Centre Conducts One-Day Workshop on Agritech Excellence and Innovation.
SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centre organized a one-day workshop on “Agritech Excellence and Innovation” with the support of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India. The workshop aimed to promote the adoption of emerging technologies to make agriculture smarter, sustainable, and innovation-led across the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The event witnessed the participation of distinguished academicians and subject experts, including Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Director, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Kashmir, Dr. Ajaz Ahmad Wani, Department of Botany, University of Kashmir, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Khanday, Head, Department of Electronics, and Prof. Javaid Ahmad, Department of Electronics coordinator from university of kashmir. The speakers highlighted the significance of quality assurance, interdisciplinary collaboration, and technology integration in strengthening the agri-innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
Mr. ABDUL ROUF KHAN, Incubation Manager (Startups & Innovation), SKUAST-K, deliberated on the advanced application of modern technologies such as Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML), and sensor-based smart systems for transforming conventional farming into a data-driven, efficient, and progressive sector. He also elaborated on the vast scope and business opportunities in agriculture and allied sectors, and highlighted the support ecosystem provided by SKIIE, including incubation, mentoring, capacity building, and handholding support for aspiring startups and young innovators.
Mr. Muneer Ahmad Wani, Nodal Officer, Atal Tinkering Lab, delivered a focused and practical session on the application of microcontrollers in smart agriculture, showcasing their role in precision farming, automated irrigation, and real-time monitoring solutions. The program was organized in collaboration with University of Kashmir.
The workshop served as an interactive platform for students, researchers, innovators, and budding entrepreneurs to explore agri-tech opportunities and align their ideas with national priorities in digital and smart agriculture.
The program reflected the visionary leadership from both the reputed institutions of UT of Jammu and Kashmir whose focus on innovation, incubation, and technology excellence continues to strengthen agri-entrepreneurship and sustainable development initiatives in Jammu & Kashmir.
