Greetings from the Placement Cell, RGNIYD

The Placement Cell, RGNIYD organised the third phase of Campus Recruitment by inviting SoS Children's Village on May 1st, 2024.

A total of 26 students from department of Social Work, Sociology, and Applied Psychology participated in the campus placement interview.

Dr. S Kumaravel, Placement Officer, and Head of the Department of Social Work extended a warm welcome to the recruitment team comprising of Mr. Srinivasan, Director, SoS Children's Village, Chennai, Ms. Karthika, and Mr. Mugilan. Management trainees of SoS.

Dr. Rambabu Botcha and Dr. Vishal Mishra efficiently coordinated the event, with invaluable support along with the student coordinators Ms.Sreelakshmi and Md Naumir Alam .

The shortlisted students will be called for virtual interview next week.

The PCC of RGNIYD and Department of Social Work join hands and do a collaborative effort aimed at bringing opportunities for students and fostering meaningful Placement for their careers and making connections with different recruiters.

As part of the Placement Drive, on 27th February 2024 witnessed the interview from 4 organizations: PCVC, Chennai, Reviviscence Rehab Institute Pvt Ltd., Chennai, Child Survival India, Chennai, and Sevalaya, Chennai. Screening test was conducted by NalandaWay Foundation as well. Other organizations/companies will be taking part on 28th February 2024 and 29th February 2024 such as SOS Children’s Villages from New Delhi, Magic Bus, Learning Links Foundation, Chennai, Centre for Life Skills Learning, Kerala, Voice4Girls, Karnataka and Telangana, Equibeing Foundation, Karnataka, SRIJAN, etc. through both online and offline modes. The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) commenced the Placement Drive at the Headquarter campus in Sriperumbudur on 26th February 2024. More than ten organisations/companies have taken part in the Placement Drive from different parts of the country. On 26th February 2024 Hand in Hand, Bhartiya Yuva Shakti Trust (BYST), CrescenDo Educational Innovations, Dreamz Foundation Trust, NalandaWay Foundation and other organizations/companies will be taking part from 27th February 2024 till 29th February 2024 such as SOS Children’s Villages from New Delhi, , Sevalaya, Chennai, Magic Bus, Child Survival India, The International Foundation for Crime Prevention & Victim Care- (PCVC), Learning Links Foundation, Chennai, Centre for Life Skills Learning, Kerala, Voice4Girls, Karnataka and Telangana, Equibeing Foundation, Karnataka, SRIJAN, etc. During the Inaugural Session of Placement Drive, Dr. Rambabu Botcha, Placement Officer, mentioned that the Students of RGNIYD have enormous potential to work in various segments of the youth development sector such as Social Work, Applied Psychology, Development Studies, Public Administration, Sociology, Computer Science, English, and Mathematics. He warm heartedly welcomed and appreciated all the recruiters for joining the Placement Drive in RGNIYD Campus. He introduced all the 10 departments from Headquarter and the Regional Centre and extended his best wishes for the students.

Dr. B Rajesh Kanna, Placement Officer delivered the special address, he presented all the students of ten different departments to the recruiters. In his speech, he mentioned that the students of RGNIYD have trained and tuned in line with the purpose of working in empowering youth which directs to produce a productive workforce by unlocking the potential of the dynamic young people of the country towards a strong nation building. He motivated the students to participate actively during the placement drive. On 26th February 2024, the above mentioned organisations recruited and students will be receiving the offers from various organisations.

The Placement Brochures of all the departments were released in the presence of Mr. Avinav Thakur, Assistant Registrar, Prof. Vasanthi Rajendran, CTO & CB, Dr. Sharmistha Bhattacharjee, Dean Academics. HODs of all the departments, Faculty co-coordinators and all the students. The students of RGNIYD have expressed their happiness for participating in the interviews with various organisations and companies and receiving offers with a good package. Interviews were conducted in different venues in the Campus as part of Campus Placements. The Placement Cell Officers and Student Coordinators are inviting various organizations and companies for achieving 100% placements to the students of RGNIYD. The placement drive continues up to 29th February 2024.

The Placement Cell at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development is delighted to share the successful completion of a comprehensive workshop on harnessing the power of LinkedIn for professional development.

We were honored to have two distinguished experts, Ms. Sridevi Ravichandran, Founder of Srishi Career Academy, a Career Strategy Coach, and Expert Resume Writer, along with Ms. Kavitha RajaGopal, Founding Director of Thrivity Foundation and Ph.D. Scholar at IIT Madras, sharing invaluable insights.

The workshop covered essential aspects such as crafting an impactful LinkedIn profile, content creation, optimizing profile and background photos, and the significance of LinkedIn in networking and job hunting. Dr. Rambabu Botcha and Dr. P. Thiyagarajan, our esteemed Placement Officers, and Dr. Sharmistha Bhattacharjee Associate professor and Hod from the department of sociology alongside the dedicated student coordinators Ms. Sree Lakshmi, Mr. Naumir, and Ms. Keerti, played instrumental roles in coordinating this enriching session.

The first meeting for the Placement Committee-2024 was conducted on 06.11.2023 in the Mini Conference Hall, RGNIYD by the Placement officers Dr. Rambabu Botcha and Dr. P. Thiyagarajan, along with the faculty and student coordinators of various departments. The committee included all 10 departments’ placement faculty representatives and two student coordinators from each department.
During the meeting, the Placement committee discussed several crucial points, such as the role of students as placement coordinators. Emphasis was placed on the importance of faculty coordinators in ensuring a successful placement drive. The discussion also covered the planning of placement workshops, including those related to Communication, Presentation, Documentation skills, soft skills, Resume Building, Group Discussion, Communication, Time Management and LinkedIn usage. These workshops are intended to prepare students to meet recruiter requirements and will be conducted during the third semester.
The schedule for the Placement activities was discussed, including the following key points: Contacting the department wise recruiters should be the responsibility of placement coordinators.
All departments should maintain LinkedIn profiles, and a training session on how to manage LinkedIn profiles will be provided by the placement cell.

The Placement Coordination Cell at RGNIYD took a momentous step towards nurturing the aspirations of students by organizing an enlightening orientation on Career Opportunities in Civil Services, focusing on UPSC and TNPSC. The event, held on May 26, 2023, witnessed an esteemed gathering of eager minds, ready to embark on a journey of public service.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Prof. Sibnath Deb, the honourable Director of RGNIYD, whose inspiring words set the tone for the day. His unwavering support and belief in the potential of young individuals laid a strong foundation for the program.

Guiding the participants through the intricacies of the civil services examinations was the esteemed resource person, Shri S. Rajasekaran. As a UPSC exam trainer at Indialearns IAS Academy in Chennai, his expertise and deep understanding of the subject matter captivated the audience. Shri Rajasekaran shared invaluable insights, strategies, and success stories, leaving the attendees motivated and well-equipped to tackle the challenges that lie ahead.

This orientation program proved to be a vital stepping stone for aspiring civil servants, empowering them to embrace the opportunities offered by the civil services examinations. The Placement Cell at RGNIYD reaffirmed its commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals who are dedicated to making a positive impact on society. On this occasion, Dr Rambabu Botcha, the placement officer appreciated and thanked the resource person Mr. S. Rajasekharan. There were more than 80 students from different departments who participated in the orientation program.
