Sunder Nagar is a small picturesque town having population approximately 80,000. Sunder Nagar has a savvy climate ideal for the NRI's with a beautiful weather throughout the year. Town also has an engineering college, two degree colleges and good operating schools apart from our college. Our institution is fully equipped with latest instruments. Library has about 2800 books and 28 international and national journals are being subscribed by the institute. We have talented and well trained staff and senior faculty members. Team HDC is proud to share that Dr. Vasundhara Pathania, Professor, Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, has been honoured with the “Fittest Paediatric Dentist-Female” Award in the 40–50 years age category at the 47th ISPPD National Conference, held from 21–23 September 2026 at The Leela Convention Centre, New Delhi.

Organised by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, and Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS), New Delhi, the conference brought together academicians and professionals in Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry. The award is a proud moment for Team HDC and a recognition of Dr. Pathania’s professional excellence at the national level. As a part of its commitment to continuous staff training and patient safety, Himachal Dental College & Hospital, Sundernagar, conducted its Annual Refresher Course (2026-2027) for its Non-Teaching and Support Staff, including Drivers and Security Guards, on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026. The course featured a session titled “Infection Control, Sterilization and Disinfection - Clinical Practices”, delivered by Dr. Aayushi Moudgil, PG Student, Department of Prosthodontics. The session highlighted the important role of non-teaching and support staff in maintaining a safe, hygienic and infection-free healthcare environment through appropriate infection control, biomedical waste management, sterilization and disinfection practices. Dr. Moudgil was felicitated by the Principal, Dr. Baljeet Singh, in recognition of her exceptional work and contribution to the session.

Team HDC conducted a School Screening and Oral Health Awareness Camp at DAV Public School, BSL, Pandoh, on Wednesday, 26th August 2026, with 240 students and staff participating in the initiative. The camp included comprehensive oral health screening, interactive health education sessions and educational games, with students of Class 2nd participating enthusiastically. As part of the programme, five students from Class 5th were designated as Dental Marshalls, receiving an orientation to the fully equipped mobile dental van and community oral healthcare, while five students from Class 9th were designated as To***co-Free Youth Ambassadors, receiving training to promote a to***co-free environment within their school and community. The programme concluded with the felicitation of the Dental Marshalls, To***co-Free Youth Ambassadors and the DAV Public School, BSL, Pandoh team, in appreciation of their active participation, support and cooperation. Team HDC conducted a Dental Screening, Oral Health Awareness and To***co Cessation Camp at Sanskar Foundation Drug Counselling & Rehabilitation Centre, Dodhwan, Sundernagar, on Wednesday, 12th August, 2026. More than 45 residents and staff members were screened, with the camp focusing on oral health assessment, oral hygiene awareness and to***co cessation counselling, encouraging healthier and to***co-free practices as an integral part of rehabilitation and recovery. This was the second follow-up camp of 2026 at the centre and was conducted as part of the Oral Hygiene Fortnight celebrations, reflecting the continued commitment of Himachal Dental College towards preventive oral healthcare, to***co cessation and community well-being.

Team HDC conducted a Dental Awareness and Screening Camp at Cambridge School, Lunapani, on 7th August 2026, as part of its ongoing Oral Hygiene Day Celebrations, wherein a total of 491 students and staff members were screened for potential oral health diseases/conditions. The camp focused on promoting oral health through health education, oral hygiene instructions, preventive awareness, and distribution of oral health samples. Students demonstrating good oral hygiene were appreciated and presented with Good Oral Hygiene Cards, encouraging them to maintain and strengthen their healthy practices, while those requiring further dental attention were appropriately referred to the college. This initiative was a part of the annual collaboration between the school and HDC towards promoting oral health awareness and preventive dental care among the students and staff of the school.

A meaningful oral health initiative was conducted on 29th July, 2026 at Sehyog Residential School for Special Children, Nagchala, as a collaborative effort between the Department of Periodontology and Implantology and the Department of Public Health Dentistry, Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar. As part of the Oral Hygiene Day Celebrations 2026, a total of 55 special children were screened for oral diseases, provided with oral hygiene samples, and educated on proper toothbrushing and flossing techniques. Children requiring further dental care were referred to Himachal Dental College for necessary treatment and follow-up, reinforcing our commitment to inclusive, preventive, and accessible oral healthcare for every child.
