World Oral Health Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and professionalism on Friday, 20-Mar-2026 at Himachal Dental College and Hospital, Sundernagar, in association with Special Olympics Bharat, Mandi Chapter, with participation from around 20 students each and their staff from Sehyog Residential School for Special Children, Nagchala, and Sakar Special School, Sundernagar. The program included oral health education through pantomime, live demonstrations of brushing, flossing, and mouthwash use, along with diet counselling. Stationery kits, toothbrushes, and toothpaste samples were distributed, and refreshments were provided. Over 30 special children received prompt diagnosis and treatment in the Department of P**odontics and Preventive Dentistry. The treatments provided included scaling, extractions, pulpotomies, restorations, and emergency access openings, ensuring a warm, comfortable, and positive dental experience.

The visiting representatives from Special Olympics Bharat, Mandi Chapter, were honoured with tokens of appreciation. The management and principal extended their wishes to the special athletes and appreciated their visit. The program also marked the beginning of World Oral Health Month celebrations (20 March–20 April 2026) with engaging activities such as the “Good Food, Bad Food” game and pledge board signing, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to inclusive oral healthcare and community outreach.

On 17 March 2026, Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar. The event featured a range of engaging and educational activities including a quiz competition, dental relay race, blindfold game, and vibrant dance performances. On this occasion, students who excelled in the AMRU Medical University annual examinations were also felicitated. PG toppers Dr. Harnoor and Dr. Shruti were awarded first, followed by UG toppers Dr. Prashant and Dr. Jagisha for their academic achievements.
Directors, Dr. Anil Singla air and Dr. Vikas Jindal sir along with Principal Dr. Baljeet Singh, appreciated the students’ accomplishments and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence. The celebration proved to be a perfect blend of learning, motivation, and entertainment, leaving everyone with memorable experiences.

Himachal Dental College & Hospital (HDC), Sundernagar, proudly shares the achievements of the Department of P**odontics and Preventive Dentistry at the ISPPD P**o Convention 2026, held from 12 to 14 March 2026 at Visakhapatnam. Prof. Dr. Vasundhara Pathania delivered an insightful Guest Lecture on “Catching the Clues: Pediatric Dentistry in Early Diagnosis of Sleep Breathing Disorders,” and Dr. Ishant was felicitated for serving as Chairperson for a Scientific Session.

Five postgraduate students, Dr. Shriya, Dr. Prish*ta, Dr. Bhavya, Dr. Parul, and Dr. Ashneet, presented papers and posters at the convention, reflecting the department’s strong academic commitment. The department takes immense pride in the outstanding achievements of its students, with Dr. Prish*ta (PG 2nd Year) securing the Best Paper Award and Dr. Parul (PG 1st Year) securing the Best Poster Award. These accomplishments reflect the visionary leadership and support of the Directors, Dr. Anil Singla and Dr. Vikas Jindal, the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Baljeet Singh, and the leadership of the HOD, Dr. Kamal Kishore Gupta.

The department continues to advance research in pediatric oral health across Sundernagar and Mandi, focusing on early diagnosis and preventive care. These efforts are contributing to improved awareness and better long term health outcomes for children in the community.

The Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology, Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar celebrated International Women’s Day with great enthusiasm to honor the achievements and contributions of women in dentistry and healthcare.
On 9th March, various competitions including Extempore Speech, Quiz on “Women Firsts,” and Poster Making were organized. A special awareness lecture on “Puberty and Menstrual Related Periodontal Changes” was delivered at Vallabh Govt. College, Mandi (H.P.) along with distribution of toothpaste and toothbrush samples to promote oral health.
The celebration continued on 10th March with a Lamp Lighting Ceremony, inspiring addresses by Dr. Vikas Jindal (Director) and Dr. Baljeet Singh (Principal), and a lecture by Dr. Naveen on “Women Leadership in Academia and Clinical Practice.” Achievements of Dr. Vasundhra Pathania, Dr. Shweta Verma, and Dr. Mamta Mahajan were highlighted.
The event also featured a cake cutting ceremony, panel discussion, valedictory function, fun games, and refreshments for faculty, students, and staff.

On 23rd February 2026, our college enthusiastically celebrated National Periodontist Day, organising a series of educational and creative activities for students.
The celebration featured a Rangoli Making Competition, where participants expressed their creativity through vibrant designs centered on oral and periodontal health.
A lecture by Dr. Baljeet Singh (Principal) highlighted the importance of periodontology, stressing the role of periodontists and the need for modern practice and professional ethics.
A Flash Diagnosis Event added an academic edge, challenging students’ clinical knowledge and diagnostic skills in an engaging rapid-fire format.
The occasion was further marked by a Cake Cutting Ceremony, bringing faculty and students together in celebration.
The event concluded with a Prize Distribution Ceremony, recognising winners with certificates and awards for their outstanding efforts.
The program successfully promoted awareness about periodontal health while fostering teamwork, creativity, and academic excellence. National Periodontist Day 2026 was indeed a meaningful and memorable celebration for our college, inspiring everyone to contribute towards better oral health in the community.

Himachal Dental College, Sundernagar, was conferred the prestigious “Dr. Kedar N. Rustagi Award for Community and Humanitarian Services” by the International College of Dentists (ICD) in recognition of its outstanding contributions to community and humanitarian dental care during 2025. The award was presented on 01 March 2026 at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, and was received by the Principal, Dr. Baljeet Singh, in the presence of ICD Global President Dr. Julio Rodriguez, ICD Section VI President Dr. V.S. Kohli, Secretary Dr. Yogesh Virmani, and Dr. Mahesh Verma, Editor-in-Chief of the ICD Journal and Vice Chancellor of the University. On this occasion, the Directors, Dr. Anil Singla and Dr. Vikas Jindal, stated that the honour reflects the institution’s continued commitment to community outreach and excellence in Public Health Dentistry; in 2025 alone, the college conducted over 55 free dental camps, screening more than 6,000 individuals, while over 800 patients received comprehensive treatment through its fully equipped Mobile Dental Van. This recognition is a matter of pride for the institution and District Mandi, highlighting the dedicated efforts of faculty and students in promoting community service, improving access to oral healthcare, and reducing the burden of dental diseases.

Continuing the strong association between Himachal Dental College and Himalayan Health Exchange (HHE), the third and final outreach camp for February 2026 was successfully conducted on 21st February 2026 at Larankelo, District Kullu, located over 100 kilometers from the campus. The team departed at 6:15 AM and returned at 7:30 PM, dedicating more than 13 hours of continuous service, with a one-way travel time of approximately three and a half hours through challenging terrain. During the camp, more than 300 patients were screened, and 18 individuals received on-site treatment through the fully equipped Mobile Dental Van. This extensive outreach initiative reflects our sustained commitment to accessible oral healthcare, experiential clinical training, and meaningful community engagement. Our collaboration with Himalayan Health Exchange continues to strengthen, with further outreach activities planned in the month of April 2026.
