SPEAKATHON 2.0 organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.
SPEAKATHON 2.0 reached its successful culmination on 19th February 2026. The event was organised by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, SVNIT, under the aegis of the Centre for Continuous Education (CCE). The two events of the competition were conducted on 12th February 2026, followed by the prize distribution on 19th February 2026.
The event served as a vibrant platform for first-year B.Tech students to demonstrate their proficiency in writing, originality, and creative abilities. Throughout the sessions, participants displayed notable eloquence and imaginative engagement, holding the audience’s attention through nuanced articulation and artistic expression.
SPEAKATHON functions not merely as a competitive endeavour but as a collaborative creative space that encourages dialogue, mutual appreciation, and a healthy spirit of contestation among peers.
This year’s edition featured two distinct events—News as Muse, which invited participants to compose poems inspired by selected news clippings, and Uncover the Cover, where students created
original narratives based on randomly assigned book covers and titles—both of which foregrounded critical interpretation, intertextual imagination, and creative responsiveness. Together, the event showed how effective communication and creative thinking strengthen critical thinking and shape well-argued perspectives.
We look forward to organising future editions of SPEAKATHON, continuing to cultivate a literary and intellectual tradition that motivates students to explore and present their artistic and creative voices with confidence and originality.
