A seminar on “Precision Agronomy: Enhancing Productivity through Smart Farming” was organized by Faculty of Agriculture for B.Sc. Agriculture (4-year) students, featuring an insightful lecture by Dr. Devi Lal, Scientist, KVK Bhiwani (Haryana). The session enriched students’ understanding of modern farming technologies and innovative approaches to boost agricultural productivity.

🌾 Awareness Rally to Stop Stubble Burning Organized at Guru Kashi University 🌱
The Faculty of Agriculture, Guru Kashi University (GKU), in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized an Awareness Rally to Stop Stubble Burning on 4th November 2025.
The rally was flagged off by Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Rameshwar Singh, who, in his inaugural address, emphasized the serious environmental and health impacts of stubble burning. He highlighted the alternative and productive uses of crop residues, encouraging farmers and students to adopt eco-friendly and sustainable practices for effective straw management.
Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman, Pro Vice Chancellor, spoke about the importance of crop residue management, explaining how innovative and sustainable technologies can help farmers enhance their income while protecting the environment.
Mr. Sardool Singh, Director Students’ Welfare (DSW), addressed the gathering on the harmful effects of straw burning on human health and ecosystems, urging everyone to act responsibly to safeguard the planet.
Dr. Lokender Kashyap, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, discussed the negative impacts of straw burning on soil fertility, environmental quality, and agricultural sustainability. He inspired students to spread awareness in rural communities and take part in building a pollution-free Punjab.
Mrs. Narinder Kaur, NSS Coordinator, also contributed significantly to the success of the rally. She motivated the students and faculty members to participate actively in this noble cause and emphasized the collective responsibility of youth in protecting the environment.
The Faculty of Agriculture extends heartfelt thanks to all faculty members, NSS volunteers, and students for their active participation and enthusiasm, which made this awareness campaign a great success.
Let us continue to work together for a cleaner, greener, and healthier Punjab! 🌿

🌱 Field Day & Exposure Visit – Faculty of Agriculture, GKU 🌱

The Faculty of Agriculture, Guru Kashi University, successfully organized a Field Day & Exposure Visit on the theme “Water Smart Farming Techniques for Resource Efficiency” on 15th September 2025 at S.D. Biotech seeds (Aeroponics), Dayalpura Bhaika, Bathinda.

A total of 57 B.Sc. Agriculture students actively participated and gained hands-on exposure to Aeroponics and modern resource-efficient farming technologies.

We sincerely thank S. Sukhpal Singh Dhaliwal, Director, S.D. Biotech Seeds, S. Iqbal Singh Dhaliwal CEO, S.D. Biotech seeds, and Dr Harpal Singh Dhaliwal for their valuable guidance and support in enriching the learning experience of our students.

Such academic initiatives provide students with practical exposure, bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world applications. 🌿✨

"ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦਿਵਸ - 2023"
ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦਿਵਸ ਦੇ ਮੌਕੇ 'ਤੇ, ਖੇਤੀਬਾੜੀ, ਜੀ.ਕੇ.ਯੂ. ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਫੈਕਲਟੀ ਨੂੰ ਇੱਕ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਵਰਕਸ਼ਾਪ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਸ਼ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਅਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਣੀ ਦੀ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦੇ ਅਭਿਆਸਾਂ ਦੇ ਵੱਖ-ਵੱਖ ਉਪਾਵਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਵ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣਾ ਸੀ। ਧਰਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ, ਧਰਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਮੁੱਚੇ ਸੰਤੁਲਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖਣ ਲਈ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਇੱਕ ਜ਼ਰੂਰੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕੁਦਰਤ ਨੂੰ ਬਚਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਲੋੜ 'ਤੇ ਚਾਨਣਾ ਪਾਉਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਉਣ, ਖੇਤ ਦੇ ਆਲੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਬਣਾਉਣ, ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਢੱਕਣ, ਫਸਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਟਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਹੜ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਆਫ਼ਤਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਘਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਮਿਸ਼ਰਤ ਫਸਲਾਂ ਦੀ ਤਕਨੀਕ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕੈਂਪਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁੱਖ ਲਗਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮੁਹਿੰਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ: ਪੁਸ਼ਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਔਲਖ (ਪ੍ਰੋ ਵਾਈਸ ਚਾਂਸਲਰ) ਅਤੇ ਡਾ: ਜੋਰਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਬਰਾੜ, ਪ੍ਰੋਫੈਸਰ (ਕੀਟ ਵਿਗਿਆਨ) ਨੇ ਭਾਗ ਲਿਆ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ 'ਤੇ ਬਿਹਤਰ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਜੀਵਨ ਲਈ ਜਾਨਵਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬਨਸਪਤੀ ਦਾ ਅਭਿਆਸ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਸ੍ਰੀਮਤੀ ਸਿਮਰਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ.ਦਲਵੀਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਸ੍ਰੀ ਵਿਜੇ ਸਿੰਘ, ਈ.ਆਰ.ਰਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ.ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ। ਡਾ: ਦਿਨੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਕਾਸ਼ੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿੱਚ "ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਕੁਦਰਤ ਸੰਭਾਲ ਦਿਵਸ" ਮਨਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਸਾਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਸ਼ਮੂਲੀਅਤ ਲਈ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਕੀਤਾ।

"विश्व प्रकृति संरक्षण दिवस - 2023"
विश्व प्रकृति संरक्षण दिवस के अवसर पर, जीकेयू के कृषि संकाय के छात्रों और अध्यापको को एक प्रशिक्षण कार्यशाला की पेशकश की गई और मिट्टी और जल संरक्षण के विभिन्न उपायों पर जागरूकता पैदा की गई। एकमात्र आदर्श वाक्य पृथ्वी को बचाना और मातृ प्रकृति का संरक्षण करना था। प्रकृति पृथ्वी पर जीवन का समर्थन करने, ग्रह के समग्र संतुलन को बनाए रखने में एक आवश्यक भूमिका निभाती है। प्रकृति के संरक्षण की आवश्यकता पर प्रकाश डालते हुए छात्र, वृक्षारोपण, खेत के चारों ओर मेड़ बनाने, वनस्पति आवरण, फसल पैटर्न और बाढ़ आपदाओं को कम करने के लिए मिश्रित फसल तकनीकों का अभ्यास करने में शामिल थे। डॉ. पुष्पिंदर सिंह औलख (प्रो वाइस चांसलर) और डॉ. जोरा सिंह बराड़, प्रोफेसर (कीट विज्ञान) ने परिसर में वृक्षारोपण अभियान में भाग लिया। छात्रों को पृथ्वी पर बेहतर मानव जीवन के लिए जीव-जंतुओं और वनस्पतियों का अभ्यास करने की सलाह दी गई। इस अवसर पर सुश्री सिमरजीत कौर, डॉ. दलवीर सिंह, श्री विजय सिंह, इंजिनीयर राजिंदर सिंह और डॉ. बलजिंदर सिंह उपस्थित थे। डॉ. दिनेश कुमार ने गुरु काशी विश्वविद्यालय में "विश्व प्रकृति संरक्षण दिवस" ​​मनाने में भाग लेने के लिए सभी को धन्यवाद दिया।
