The Department of Commerce, Guru Nanak Dev University College, Chungh, organized a Workshop on Income Tax E-Filing on January 23, 2026, under RUSA 2.0, with the objective of strengthening students’ practical understanding of Income Tax and its e-filing procedures.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Karamjeet Singh, Vice-Chancellor, GNDU, Amritsar (Chief Patron), and Prof. (Dr.) Saroj Arora, Dean CDC (Patron). The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Manjinder Kaur, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, with Mr. Gurlal Singh serving as Deputy Coordinator, along with Ms. Gurwinder Kaur as a member of the organizing committee.
The programme commenced with welcome remarks by Dr. Manjinder Kaur, who emphasized the significance of financial literacy and tax awareness in the contemporary academic and professional landscape.
The workshop was conducted in two structured sessions by the resource person, Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Chartered Accountant.
During the first session, he explained the fundamental terminology related to Income Tax in a clear, interactive, and learner-centric manner. Students were actively engaged through question-based discussions, ensuring meaningful participation. A tea break was arranged following the first session.
The second session was devoted to the practical demonstration of Income Tax E-Filing using the official portal. The resource person elaborated on the filing procedures of ITR-1, ITR-2, ITR-3, and ITR-4 with relevant real-life examples, thereby providing students with practical exposure. He also encouraged students to pursue Chartered Accountancy as a professional career, highlighting its strong future prospects.
The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks presented by Mrs. Kinderjit Kaur, Principal of the College, who expressed appreciation to the resource person, faculty members, organizers, and participants. A lunch was organized for the participants, faculty, and guests.
The workshop was academically enriching and professionally relevant, significantly contributing to students’ understanding of Income Tax and return filing procedures.
