Walk to the Library 📚 | Tezpur University

Tezpur University today organised the “Walk to the Library” programme for newly admitted students, aimed at familiarising them with the University Library, its resources and services, and encouraging a culture of reading and academic exploration.

Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das joined the students in the walk, marking an engaging beginning to their academic journey at Tezpur University.

🎓 Day 2 of Orientation-cum-Deeksharambh Programme 2026–27

Tezpur University welcomed its newly admitted UG students on Day 2 of the Orientation-cum-Deeksharambh Programme 2026–27 at the KBR Auditorium.

The programme featured an address by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das, who welcomed the new students and shared valuable insights as they begin their academic journey at the University.

A special address was delivered by distinguished alumnus Jayant Bormudoi, Oil India Limited, who shared his experiences and inspired the new students with insights from his professional journey.

The programme also included addresses by the Dean, Academic Affairs; Dean, Students’ Welfare; Chief Proctor; and Presiding Officer, Internal Committee, along with a special session on “A Journey Towards a Sustainable Campus”.

🇮🇳 Tezpur University Celebrates 80th Independence Day

Tezpur University proudly observed the 80th Independence Day of India. The programme began with the National Song “Vande Mataram”, setting the tone for the patriotic celebrations.

The National Flag was hoisted by Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das, Pro Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University, followed by the National Anthem and his Independence Day Address.

The celebrations continued with a vibrant array of cultural programmes, including patriotic songs, poetry and dance performances by students and participating cultural groups.

Tezpur University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) on 05 August 2026, marking a significant step towards promoting bamboo-based sustainable development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and skill development. The collaboration will focus on research, technology transfer, capacity building, value-chain development, and creating sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for local communities.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Chandan Goswami, Registrar (i/c), on behalf of Tezpur University, and Dr. Prakash Borgohain, IRS, Managing Director, NECBDC, on behalf of the Council. The signing ceremony was graced by Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das, Hon’ble Pro Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University, and Dr. Prakash Borgohain.

Prof. Madhurima Goswami, Head, Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies, along with the faculty, staff, and members of the Centre, were also present on the occasion. Heads of Departments and Deans of various Schools of Studies were also present.

🌍 A Warm Welcome to Our Global Community!

Tezpur University warmly welcomed its newly admitted international students through a Familiarization Programme organised by the Directorate of International Affairs.

The programme introduced students from around 23 countries to the University’s academic environment, support services, and vibrant campus community.

Prof. Amarendra Kumar Das, Pro Vice Chancellor, addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to make the most of the opportunities at Tezpur University. Prof. Subhrangshu Sekhar Sarkar, Director, International Affairs, welcomed the students and highlighted the University’s commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive environment.

The event also provided an opportunity for the students to introduce themselves, interact with the University leadership, and begin building friendships across cultures.
