The Department commenced activities by starting with M.Phil programme as per the model curriculum designed by UGC in 1990-91. In 1995, Department started a three semester M.Tech in Futures Studies. Later in 2000, based on the suggestions from AICTE; the course has been changed to M.Tech in Technology Management of four semesters with an emphasis on scientific study of Technology and its Management

. Apart from these courses, the Department offers two years Masters programme in Tourism Management (MTA) and an interdisciplinary M.Phil programme in Futures Studies where in all disciplines are given admission.
