The college was established in the premises of The School of Arts (College of Fine Arts) Palayam, in the year 1958 with an intake of 120 students in Three branches of engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In the year 1962 the college was shifted to the present campus at Vattiyoorkavu the land famous for the 1938 Vattiyoorkavu Conference.The college was

established in the premises of The School of Arts (College of Fine Arts) Palayam, in the year 1958 with an intake of 120 students in Three branches of engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical EngineeringCentral Polytechnic College is one of Kerala's premier technical institutions. The College is under the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala and is affiliated to the State Board of Technical Examinations. Since the day of its inception in 1958, this college has been disseminating quality technical education and moulding technicians with expertise, attitude and responsibility. The college was started on the premises of the school of Arts (College of Fine arts, Palayam, Trivandrum). But today, it sprawls over 30 acres of land at Vattiyoorkavu, the place famous owing to the 1938 Vattiyoorkavu conference. At present, the college proudly offers Diploma courses, Post-Diploma courses and certificate courses in technical subjects. Their mission is to impart quality technical education to enable young Technicians to meet global challenges and to mould them into responsible citizens in the service of humanity. The College has six Departments such as Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics, Textile Technology and Mechanical. The College of Diploma & Certificate courses in Textile Technology.
