In view of the upcoming Assembly elections 2026, a series of voter awareness initiatives are being actively carried out by officials in Tiruvarur district under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.
As part of this ongoing effort to strengthen democratic participation, a mega rally was organised on 25 March 2026 to emphasise the importance of voting and encourage citizens to exercise their franchise responsibly.
The rally was flagged off by Tiruvarur District Collector and District Election Officer Thiru V. Mohanachandran, IAS, in the presence of officials and coordinators. More than 250 students from the Central University of Tamil Nadu, members of the National Service Scheme (NSS) under the leadership of Dr. SK Balashanmugam, enthusiastically took part in the rally. The students were also joined by members of various women’s self-help groups from across Tiruvarur, reflecting a strong community-driven push for electoral awareness. Participants marched through key areas holding vibrant banners and placards bearing slogans such as “My vote is my right”, “Your vote is your future”, “Let us vote 100 percent”, and “Let us vote honestly”, effectively spreading the message among the public and urging higher voter turnout.
Prior to the rally, students assembled in a formation resembling the indelible ink-marked voting finger, symbolising the power of each vote, and a drone photograph of the formation was captured as part of the awareness campaign.
During the rally, brochures highlighting the significance of voting were distributed among the public, reinforcing the district administration’s commitment to ensuring maximum electoral participation.
Prof. V Renuka Devi, Dr. Venkatachalapathy, Dr. Dinakaran Challabathula were present during the rally.
