The School of Drama and Fine Arts was pleased to welcome Prof. Bharat Gupt, Vice-Chairperson of the National School of Drama Society, to our campus on 14th August 2026. Prof. Gupt, a scholar of theatre, music and Indian aesthetics and an authority on the Nāṭyaśāstra, spent time with the faculty and students and visited the different academic and production spaces of the School.

During his visit, he witnessed rehearsals of third-year IMTA student directors’ work, met the Iranian director Dr Mohammad Khezeli (Nooran) working with our final-year MTA students, and attended the demonstration of 'From Stage to Screen' 'Video art & dance film for the Performing arts' by Dr Rafael Arnal Rodrigo from the University of Zaragoza, Spain with the first-year IMTA students. He also interacted with the faculty on theatre, education and practice, leading to a meaningful exchange of ideas.

It was a privilege for the School to receive him, share our ongoing academic and artistic work, and have a conversation that connected theatre practice, pedagogy and the larger questions of theatre education.
