GECT Development Trust - GECTDT Our ultimate vision is to make GECT the best engineering college in Kerala, period.

Government Engineering College, Thrissur (GECT) Development Trust
"Alumni Giving Back To GECT"
To Build a Constant Maintenance & Landscaping Endowment &
To make GECT the Best Engineering College in Kerala Given the facts on the ground explained in the Background page, to do something about improving government institutes like GECT means coming up with innovative ideas for funding and execution of

maintenance projects. We generally concur that government doesn’t have the wherewithal to lead in bringing back such institutes to its past glory without significant help from private citizens. Well to do private citizens and corporations coming to the aid of the struggling government establishments is the need of the hour. This is the organic way of empowering the psyche of the people by awakening them to the fact that, in a democracy people are indeed the government and the era of total dependence on and waiting for the benevolence of rulers and governments is gone for good. We understand that the standards of a college are measured by both academic and non-academic benchmarks. We plan to raise the academic standards by seeking the collaboration of international educational entities, providing students with access to high quality libraries, facilitating practical training to students in top notch corporations, etc. By the non-academic aspects of the college, we mean providing a safe and hygienic campus environment. We will raise the current bar by implementing self-sustaining projects that are privately funded and managed. We strive to address the maintenance related issues of the college so that the faculty and students can enjoy an atmosphere that is conducive the real goals of crafting better prepared engineers for the nation. Our indirect objective is to change the mindset of many a students and faculty, cast a lasting impression among the visitors, and set the tone for many useful initiatives by leading from the front. A privately funded but truly altruistic and sustainable initiative can make a difference to a public setting and this is the concept we are embracing.

This is great, my dear friend, Deepak! Thank you for going to Gireesan's office and showing your respect, representing all of us classmates!

Deepak, your words are right on the mark 📌. We are all so proud of the fact that now we have a Chief Engineer from our class to lead Kerala Water Authority (KWA)!

Gireesan, When you explained to me some years ago, when I met you in your KWA office near Ernakulam Maharajas college with our classmate Abdulla, how your decision to encourage folks to report things in our mother tongue Malayalam instead of English, made things way better. As a result, reports became detailed, the diagnosis became sincere and their brain's initiative to propose innovative and creative engineering solutions got triggered, you told me. And you proved it with literally real-time documents in front of me that demonstrated the fact very clearly!

From college itself, I knew you have super brains! On that day in Kochi, I realized you are not just a serious engineer but a person who should lead this department from the very top! A true leader always looks forward to making things better than they found them and you are a great example of that. That is the breed that we are missing at the top in many places and as the Chief Engineer of Kerala Water Authority (KWA), I am glad you were able to become one of such rarity!

I am glad you were able to get to that top despite you being so good at what you do which is very tough these days everywhere in the world!

I have told folks whenever I get a chance that the current KWA Chief Engineer is my classmate! On a selfish note, it adds to my non-existent engineering brand too 😂😂! So thank you for making it all possible dear friend!

I wish you all the very best! I also wish that they somehow can extend your retirement age to at least 60 years so that Kerala Water Authority can benefit more from a great engineer and a true leader leading the way from the very top!

God bless you and KWA! 😍👍

It is with great sadness that I write the untimely demise of Rajesh K. R. (1984-1988 Mechanical). Rajesh had met with a scooter accident in Thrissur and passed away soon afterward while he was being treated in Aswini hospital.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.

Hi friends,
It’s been quite a tumultuous time with passions getting the better of people on all sides.
There are many posts in GECT Alumni Foundation group and the GECT Development Trust group (the two groups that I am involved in) discussing Vincent Palathingal's actions and demanding his removal from the admin posts. Some of those posts have referenced my name. So it is only proper that I respond and make my position clear.

I do not agree with Vinson's decision to participate in the protest march on Capitol Hill or display the Indian national flag. In fact, I think they were rather foolish or even despicable. I also know that he participated in the protest march without participating in the ensuing violence. None of these is my business, nor do I think they are of anyone else’s.

If we start removing people, be that an admin or a member, based on our perceived right to be offended, we will descend into a slippery slope rather quickly. There are many people who support political leaders who are deemed mass murderers or otherwise committed heinous crimes against humanity. I know many in this group have sympathetic views and even participated in marches holding such people’s photos and flags. My take is that, as long as they have not found guilty of any crimes, we should accord them the presumption of innocence. Alumni groups are not purported to stage trials and serve justice. In this case, I do not subscribe to the notion that we should remove Vinson from the admin post because he is neither found guilty of nor charged with any crime. Furthermore, I believe that removing Vinson serves only to pander to the loudest voices and not to uphold any principled stand.

Again, these are my personal views.
Thank you for reading,
Sasi Eswaran

Here I am, the man with the flag!

I never thought what I did last Wednesday will gather so much attention, carrying an Indian flag to the rally. I am simply overwhelmed with phone calls and interviews, without having even a minute to sleep. There is still controversy about who all carried the flag and who is ultimately responsible. That is why, I am coming to all of you, yet again, to help clear the air.

I request you to listen to this video, understand these facts from the bottom of my heart, and help the people to know these truths!

Vincent Xavier Palathingal, the Flag Man, explains his position on Flag Controversy, and takes full responsibility in carrying it!

This residential project in Khar is a classic blend of Mr Puri's sensible, thoughtful aesthetics and Ms. Mak's minimalist, contemporary style. It is embellished with all the world class amenities and facilities, which reflects sophistication and majesty
