TRP Engineering College ,is named after this well-known educationist and philanthropist Dr.T.R. Pachamuthu. The institution continues the blazing glory in the field of education, deservedly bequeathing it from SRM Group of Institutions. It is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education and affiliated to Anna University ,Tiruchirappalli. The College is located on NH-45 at Irungalur near samayapuram, famous for its mariamman temple and at a distance of about 25kms from Tiruchirappalli, a city well known for its education, industrial development and connectivity with all parts of the state. Demystifying Battery Thermal Management Systems in Electric Vehicles

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM Trichy organized an insightful Tech Friday session focusing on Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) in Electric Vehicles.

Students explored how lithium-ion batteries generate heat during charging and discharging, and why maintaining optimal temperature is critical for performance, safety, and lifespan.

The session covered modern cooling techniques including air cooling, liquid cooling, and advanced phase change materials, along with intelligent thermal monitoring using sensors and AI. Students were also introduced to CFD simulations and smart Battery Management Systems for predictive safety.

Real-world applications across electric vehicles, fast-charging infrastructure, aerospace, and energy storage were discussed, offering strong industry relevance.
