To one of the greatest experiments in human history!
Nobel for LIGO

Three American physicists Rainer Weiss, Kip Throne and Barry Barish have been awarded the Nobel Prize in physics for directly detecting the ripples in space-time, the gravitational waves. Their work validated Einstein's longstanding prediction. As quoted by Nobel Committee's Nils, having witnessed the dawn of a new field, gravitational wave astronomy will unquestionably lead to new insights about the nature of extreme gravity.

Synthesis of sustainable alternatives to petroleum-derived fuels is imperative, given the multiplying demand for liquid fuels. Globally, energy consumption in the transportation sector (through liquid fuels alone) is predicted to hike 1.4% annually. One possible approach to this elevating demand is the solar thermal chemical-looping reforming process, for efficient and sustainable co-production of synthesis gas and hydrogen.
An ideal SCLR process has efficiency upto 54%

Ever increasing pollution and concern for energy management techniques is not new for us. Adsorption, a very well known physical process to the engineers, can be used to reduce/completely eliminate the power consumption for air conditioning system in automobiles using exhaust heat, seems promising as a technology to focus on in the future.

“To my way of thinking, there is every bit as much evidence for the existence of UFOs as there is for the existence of God. Probably far more. At least in the case of UFOs there have been countless taped and filmed and, by the way, unexplained sightings from all over the world, along with documented radar evidence seen by experienced military and civilian radar operators.”
said George Carlin .
On this World UFO Day , let us take a look through the "Physics of UFO".

UFO
reports have been evaluated in terms of the supposed reliability of eyewitness accounts and questionable photographic evidence. The constraints that interstellar distances, time and the conservation of energy impose on interstellar space travel for these supposed alien craft seem never to be considered by UFO proponents. Since they do provide descriptions of spacecraft of circular disks, cylinders and triangles that move strangely and rapidly and vary in size from 50 feet in diameter to 300 feet long, I undertake here to apply these constraints to the design of a hypothetical spacecraft in order to determine the feasibility of such craft and their use for interstellar travel. As a physicist and astronomer I think it important to consider not just the accounts of alien contact, but the physics of such a possibility as well.

The basic principles of physics are applicable independently of where in the galaxy a stellar system is located and will not change over time. Newton’s three laws of motion and the conservation of energy are descriptions of the manner in which different parts of a physical system interact. Consequently, a model based on an exploratory expedition leaving Earth would apply equally to all planetary systems in our galaxy. Any culture, no matter how advanced in technology, would face the same constraints imposed by physics.

Happy birthday to the greatest living minds and perhaps the only physicist with a great sense of humor.

SOMETHING WE STUDIED IN SCHOOL.. CREATING A GREAT IMPACT TODAY !!

Air density probably isn’t something you think about every day. Well, thanks to the Schlieren effect there’s now a reason to do just that.

After being discovered by German scientist August Toefler in 1864, the Schlieren effect has been most widely used in aeronautical engineering to visualize the flow of air around the body of airplanes.

The point light source is aimed at the concave mirror. The concave mirror reflects to a focal point. There you use a sharp edged object to partially block the light which helps create a shadow effect that allows you to see air movement.

However, it’s also just extremely cool to look at. When different objects — like a dry blower, an ice pop or a can of pressurized air — are held and used in front of the camera, it creates a beautiful effect.
