ARTO Pulwama issues fresh schedule for driving tests, vehicle inspection board

Pulwama, April 21, KNT: Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Pulwama has issued two separate public notices regarding the schedule for driving licence tests and Board of Inspection for goods and passenger vehicles in the district.

According to order, driving licence tests shall now be conducted regularly on every Wednesday and Thursday at Sathergund, Kakapora, Pulwama. Applicants have been advised to appear for the tests only at the notified venue on the specified days.

The notice further clarified that no driving licence tests shall be conducted at Chandgam Pulwama, and the general public has been strictly advised not to visit the said location for this purpose.

In another order, the ARTO Pulwama notified the schedule for the Board of Inspection for Goods and Passenger Class Vehicles at Chandgam Pulwama.

As per the schedule, inspection of Passenger Class Vehicles shall be conducted every Monday from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM, while inspection of Goods Class Vehicles shall be held every Tuesday from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Applicants appearing before the inspection board have been directed to bring all original relevant documents including fee receipt, Registration Certificate (RC), valid permit, Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUC), insurance certificate, and Speed Limiting Device (SLD) certificate wherever applicable.

The department has also instructed vehicle owners to present their vehicles before the Board in neat and clean condition, warning that failure to comply with the guidelines may result in non-inspection of the vehicle.(KNT)

Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan *Drug Peddler Apprehended in Awantipora; Contraband Substance Recovered*

Awantipora, April 21, 2026:

Continuing its drive against drug menace under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Awantipora Police apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at Katipora Chersoo.

A police party of Police Post Toll Plaza, headed by Incharge PP Toll Plaza SI Ishfaq Ahmad, under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora Inspector Ajaz Hmad intercepted and apprehended one person identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Shaban Bhat R/o Batipora Chersoo.

During his search, contraband substance (charas powder-like substance) weighing approximately 131 grams was recovered from his possession.

The accused has been arrested and shifted to the police station.

Accordingly, a case FIR No. /2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been set into motion.

Police reiterated their commitment towards eradicating drug abuse and urged the general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling in their area.

This is to inform that I sold my motorcycle JK15A6025 approximately 2–3 years ago. However, the buyer has not yet completed the ownership transfer in his name.

Despite the passage of time, the vehicle is still registered under my name, and I currently have no contact with the buyer.

I hereby request the concerned person to contact me within 5 days from the date of this notice and complete the necessary ownership transfer formalities.

Failing this, I will be compelled to report the matter to the RTO/ARTO and initiate appropriate action, including blacklisting of the vehicle, for my legal safety.
