🎨🇮🇳 WORLD STUDENTS’ DAY CELEBRATION – POSTER PRESENTATION COMPETITION

The Department of Commerce, PG & Research Department of Commerce, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, organised a Poster Presentation Competition on 15.10.2026 from 2.20 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. at the I B.Com I Batch Classroom (MB 34) as part of the World Students’ Day celebration. The competition was conducted on the theme “From Innovation to Nation-Building: Youth Entrepreneurship for Viksit Bharat 2047.” The programme aimed to promote creativity, innovation, entrepreneurial thinking, and youth participation in nation-building, inspired by the vision of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam.

A total of 20 students from the Commerce Department participated in 10 teams, with two members in each team. The participants showcased their ideas through creative posters highlighting innovation, entrepreneurship, and the role of youth in building a developed India by 2047.

🏆 Celebrating Excellence!

Three teams were recognised as prize winners for their creativity, originality, and innovative contributions to the theme of youth entrepreneurship and nation-building.

The programme commenced with the welcome address and compering by Ms. M. N. Arockia Infancy Soris, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Commerce. The event concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. S. Ebziba, Assistant Professor, PG & Research Department of Commerce, who expressed gratitude to the management, college administration, judges, faculty members, organisers, and participants.

🚀🌟 Celebrating the Missile Man of India – Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam 🌟🚀

The Department of Physics, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, celebrated the birth anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on 15 October 2026 at the Conference Hall, with the participation of 50 students from I B.Sc. Physics, III B.Sc. Physics, and II M.Sc. Chemistry.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by the Welcome Address and a floral tribute to the great scientist and former President of India. Students delivered inspiring speeches highlighting his life, scientific achievements, dedication to the nation, and vision for the younger generation.

A Quiz Competition tested students’ knowledge of Dr. Kalam’s childhood, education, contributions to India’s space and missile programmes, and presidency. An inspirational video screening further motivated students to pursue their aspirations with determination, perseverance, and a spirit of scientific inquiry.

The celebration paid tribute to a visionary scientist whose life continues to inspire young minds to dream big, work hard, and contribute to nation-building. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem.

📚✨ Read, Reflect and Relate: Lessons from Literature ✨📚

The PG & Research Department of English, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, organized a literary programme titled “Read, Reflect and Relate: Lessons from Literature” on 12 October 2026, from 2.00 p.m. to 3.15 p.m. at the College Auditorium.

The programme encouraged students to narrate literary pieces and reflect on the moral values, meaningful insights, and life lessons embedded in literature, highlighting its enduring relevance to everyday life.

The event was judged by Dr. T. Lilly Golda, Head and Associate Professor of English, A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women.

🌊🌿 Swachhata Pakhwada – Keeping Our Coastline Clean! 🌿🌊

The NCC Unit of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, in collaboration with NLC Tamilnadu Power Limited (NTPL), Thoothukudi, organized a Mass Cleaning Programme at Tharuvaikulam Beach on 13 October 2026 under Swachhata Pakhwada as an IQAC initiative.

The programme was headed by Thiru. T. A. Aravind Raja, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), NTPL, Thoothukudi. NTPL employees, NCC cadets, and faculty members actively joined hands to clean the beach and collect waste, demonstrating their commitment to environmental responsibility.

The initiative highlighted the importance of responsible waste management, coastal ecosystem conservation, and collective action in maintaining clean public spaces.

தமிழ்த்துறை, சான்லாக்ஸ் பன்னாட்டுக் கலை, அறிவியல் மற்றும் மானுடவியல் ஆய்விதழுடன் இணைந்து, “தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தில் மகளிர் மாண்புகள்” என்ற தலைப்பில் பன்னாட்டுக் கருத்தரங்கை 12 அக்டோபர் 2026 அன்று சிறப்பாக நடத்தியது.

இறைவணக்கத்துடனும் தமிழ்த்தாய் வாழ்த்துடனும் தொடங்கிய இக்கருத்தரங்கில், தமிழ்த்துறைத் தலைவர் முனைவர் ச. மல்லிகா வரவேற்புரையாற்றினார். கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர் கி. பழனி வாழ்த்துரை வழங்கினார்.

முதல் அமர்வில், தஞ்சைத் தமிழ்ப் பல்கலைக்கழகப் பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் இரா. இந்து, “தமிழிலக்கியத்தில் மாண்புமிகு மகளிர்” என்ற தலைப்பில் உரையாற்றினார். சங்ககாலப் பெண்களின் குழந்தை வளர்ப்பு, போர்ப்பங்களிப்பு, வேளாண்மை, விவசாய உற்பத்தி மற்றும் பண்டமாற்று வணிகம் உள்ளிட்ட பல்வேறு துறைகளில் அவர்களின் ஆளுமைகளை எடுத்துரைத்து, அவற்றை இன்றைய பெண்களின் நிலைகளுடன் ஒப்பிட்டு விளக்கினார்.

பிற்பகல் அமர்வில், தென்கொரியாவின் செஜோங் பல்கலைக்கழகப் பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் ஆரோக்கியராஜ், இணையவழியில் “தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தில் மகளிர் மாண்புகள்” என்ற தலைப்பில் சிறப்புரையாற்றினார்.

கருத்தரங்கில் பங்கேற்று ஆய்வுக் கட்டுரைகளை வழங்கிய ஆய்வாளர்களுக்குச் சான்றிதழ்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. நிறைவாக, பேராசிரியர் சு. விஜயா கலைவாணி நன்றியுரையாற்றினார்.

தமிழ் இலக்கியத்தில் மகளிரின் பெருமைகளையும் பங்களிப்புகளையும் பன்னாட்டுத் தளத்தில் எடுத்துரைத்த இக்கருத்தரங்கு, இலக்கிய ஆய்வுக்கும் மகளிர் மேன்மையைப் போற்றுவதற்கும் சிறந்த கல்வித் தளமாக அமைந்தது.

🌿✨ Swachhata Mein Sahbhag – A Step Towards a Cleaner, Greener Future! ✨🌿

The Eco Club of A.P.C. Mahalaxmi College for Women, Thoothukudi, in collaboration with Tuticorin Hindustan Bioplant Pvt. Ltd., organized the “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag” programme on 9 October 2026 at Tuticorin Hindustan Bioplant Pvt. Ltd., Muramban, Thoothukudi.

A total of 10 students and 2 faculty members from our institution participated in this initiative, emphasizing the importance of active involvement in cleanliness-related activities and individual responsibility in maintaining a clean environment.

The programme strengthened the collaboration between the college and industry in promoting environmental sustainability and encouraged students to become responsible citizens committed to cleanliness and ecological well-being.
