The Indian Coast Guard ship ‘Arush’, the 17th in the series of twenty Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), designed and built by M/s Cochin Shipyard Limited, was commissioned at Kochi by the Coast Guard Commander (Western Seaboard) Additional Director General SPS Basra.

The Indian Coast Guard will be a 150 ships/boats and 100 aircraft maritime force in next few years. In addition to these operational assets, a coastal surveillance network is being established with 46 stations to ensure real-time coastal surveillance.

Cabinet approves the takeover of HSCL by NBCC :-
The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the takeover of Hindustan Steel Works Construction Limited (HSCL) by National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC) for financial restructuring of HSCL.
HSCL will become subsidiary of NBCC with NBCC holding 51 percent equity holding. The shareholding of Government of India in HSCL will be reduced to 49 %.

Maharashtra Mantralaya's 150 Computers Attacked By Locky Virus :-
Locky ransomware, a malicious software which blocks access to computers, attacked about 150 computers in Maharashtra Mantralaya on May 15, encrypting important files from the Public Works Department and the Revenue department.
Locky is a ransomware email-worm program that is contained within a Microsoft Word document sent by email (in either Microsoft Outlook or Office 365)

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for taking up Bina-Katni 3rd line project at an estimated cost of Rs.2,478.23 crore and expected completion cost of Rs.2,917.06 crore.

India 5th largest Producer Of E-Waste: Study :-India has not only emerged as the second largest mobile market with 1.03 billion subscribers, but also become the fifth largest producer of e-waste in the world, discarding roughly 18.5 lakh metric tonnes of electronic waste each year with telecom equipment alone accounting for 12 per cent of the e-waste, according to an Associated Chambers of Commerce & Industry of India-Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (ASSOCHAM-KPMG) joint study.

Islamic banking to debut in Gujarat :-
Saudi Arabia based Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has announced to open its first branch in India at Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Its a part of MoU between India’s EXIM Bank and IDB during Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit to United Arab Emirates (UAE) in April 2016.

The bank has 56 Islamic countries as its members and as part of the MoU a 100 million dollar line-of-credit was to be given to facilitate exports to IDB's member countries.

Besides, it also announced to provide 30 medical vans as part of IDB’s social sector initiatives.

Govt Releases Draft Rules Of Juvenile Justice Act 2015 :- No child between 16 and 18 years of age in conflict with the law will be handcuffed or sent to jail or lock-up, according to the draft rules of Juvenile Justice Act 2015.
According to the draft rules, proper medical and legal aid will be provided to juvenile criminals and their parents and guardians will be duly informed and every state government is required to set up at least one ‘place of safety’ for the rehabilitation of such children.

The former project has an estimated cost of Rs. 3,627.47 crore and expected completion cost of Rs. 4,246.84 crore with 5% escalation per annum
The length of the Pune-Miraj-Londa railway line will be 467 km.

13 New Smart Cities Unveiled By Government :-
Thirteen cities have been selected in the first phase of the government’s smart cities mission, which includes Lucknow, Warangal, Bhagalpur, Raipur, New Town Kolkata , Chandigarh, Faridabad, Raipur, Ranchi, Warangal, Agartala, Imphal, Port Blair and Panaji.
