FROM CLASSROOM TO CONSTRUCTION SITE! 👷‍♂️📐

The 3rd Year students of McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture** visited the DAC Properties apartment construction site, associated with CREDAI, featuring five blocks.

Students gained valuable practical exposure to architectural models and real-scale construction, observing plastering, concreting, shuttering, MEP works, slab, beam, column & staircase reinforcements, concrete placement, cover blocks, column lapping, and foundation works.

🦺 They also learned about construction site safety measures and actively engaged in practical learning related to Concrete in Building Construction and Structural Design of Concrete.

The 4th Year B.Arch students of McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture visited Fort St. George Museum, Chennai on 12 August 2026 as part of their Art Appreciation subject study trip.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to explore the rich history, architecture, art, and cultural heritage preserved within Fort St. George. Experiencing historical spaces and artefacts firsthand helped the students connect classroom learning with real-world architectural and artistic contexts.

The study trip was organised by S. Rajkumar.

The 3rd & 4th Year students of McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture visited CSIR–SERC, Chennai, gaining valuable exposure to advanced earthquake engineering and seismic testing.

🔹 Dr. Kamatchi Ma’am, Laboratory In-charge, explained the principles of seismic tests, 1G simulation for small-scale models, simulation procedures, base isolation systems, and seismic dampers.

A highly insightful experience connecting classroom learning with real-world seismic research and structural engineering practices. 🌐🏢

🌬️ WIND ENGINEERING LABORATORY VISIT🏙️

The 3rd & 4th Year students of McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture visited the Wind Engineering Laboratory at CSIR–SERC, gaining valuable insights into wind effects on tall buildings.

👨‍🔬 Er. Abraham explained the preparation and testing of small-scale building models, the influence of building shapes on wind behaviour, and the experimental procedures used to study aerodynamic performance.

An enriching experience that connected architectural design, structural engineering, and real-world wind engineering research. 🌬️🏢

As part of the Bridge Course, the First Year B.Arch students of McGAN'S Ooty School of Architecture explored the fundamentals of Colour Theory through a hands-on paper model exercise. The students creatively translated concepts such as analogous, complementary, triadic, split-complementary, and tetradic colour schemes into three-dimensional compositions, showcasing their imagination, design thinking, and understanding of colour relationships.
This activity marks an inspiring beginning to their architectural education, fostering creativity, spatial thinking, and a strong foundation in design principles.
