The Pharmacy Literacy Club (PLC), MAPS, and the Centre for Public Health Pharmacy, Department of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS, organized a guest talk titled “Introduction to Evolutionary Medicine” on 22 August 2026 at the Department of Pharmacy Practice, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal.

The session was delivered by Dr. M. K. Unnikrishnan, Adjunct Professor, Amrita School of Pharmacy, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi, who introduced participants to evolutionary perspectives on health, disease, and human adaptation. Through examples including lactose intolerance, allergies, pyrexia, the hygiene hypothesis, and human–microbe interactions, he highlighted the relevance of evolutionary principles to modern healthcare.

More than 60 BPharm, PharmD, MPharm students, research scholars, and faculty members participated in the interactive session. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Rishi Bhat, 5th PharmD, PLC Secretary.

The Centre for Pharmaceutical Skill Development (CPSD), MCOPS, MAHE, Manipal, is organizing a two-day Certificate Course in Patent Analytics and Protection.

The programme is designed for research scholars, academic faculty members, postgraduate students and undergraduate students who wish to develop a practical understanding of patent analytics and intellectual property protection in pharmaceutical research and development.
