A vernacular study of a North Indian haveli in Makrana (Borawar), documented by Aksh*ta Jain (First year - Sem 02, P.I.A.R.). Anchored around a central courtyard (chowk), the spatial planning unfolds as a balanced interplay of light, ventilation, and intimacy reflecting an inward-looking architectural language.
A clear transition from public to private is articulated through a sequence of layered spaces, where the verandah functions as both a climatic moderator and a social threshold. Thick masonry walls and shaded edges reinforce passive environmental control.
An exploration of how tradition and climate inform timeless architectural responses.
