The faculty endorses its sustainable initiative with thrust areas of human resource management, poverty alleviation and social development with emphasis on target groups viz women, marginalised section of the society, child care
,girl child and adults. Focus:
The institute focuses equally on Theory, Action Research and Field work. It is one of the few institutes, which has a strong blend of theory and concurrent extensive fieldwork to groom professional to befit themselves in dynamic socio-economic milieus and social environment. The education methodology espoused by the Faculty encourages independent thinking and helps the students in developing hollistic perspective, strong knowledge, contemporary skills, and positive, unbiased attitude. Apart from regular lectures where theory is supplemented with case studies and practical knowledge from the field, it is essential for the students to make presentations and work on various assignements individually or in a group. The unique feature of the course is the concurrent field work in various settings which provides continuous practical exposure to the students to build up their potentials and competence. Students work with four different settings namely- Rural, Urban, Health and Industrial settings as part of fieldwork and learn to put into practice the methods of social work that are theoretically taught in class.
