Seventy-nine years of freedom, and India continues to write a story that is still unfolding.

From the aspirations of a newly independent nation to the possibilities of a new generation, our journey has been shaped by those who imagined a better India and worked to make it possible. Today, as we celebrate 79 years of independence, we look ahead with the same spirit: to learn from our past, contribute to our present, and shape the India of tomorrow.

SAIC wishes everyone a very Happy 80th Independence Day.

Jai Hind!

Banaras Through Its People

Time may take people away from Banaras, but the city has a way of staying with them.
Its memories linger in crowded lanes, evening conversations by the ghats, cups of lassi shared with friends, the familiar sight of a paan shop at the corner, and the countless faces that become part of everyday life. For many IIT BHU alumni, the city is more than a place they once lived in. It remains a part of their story.

This illustration brings together the many faces and experiences that define Banaras. The boatman on the river, the student chasing dreams, the pilgrim seeking meaning, the familiar lassi and paan, the bustle of the streets, and the timeless presence of the Ganga all find a place within it. Each element adds a small piece to a city that has always been shaped as much by its people as by its history.

What makes this illustration especially meaningful is the artist's connection with the institute. The illustration has been created by:
Prof. Phani Tetali
Professor, IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay
(Mining `1988, IIT BHU)

An alumnus of IIT (BHU), Prof. Tetali spent his formative years at the institute, where his passion for sketching and visual storytelling began.

He later pursued a Master's in Design (Visual Communication) at the IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay, building a successful career in illustration, animation, and gaming. He currently teaches animation, character design, and illustration at IIT Bombay.

This illustration is part of Prof. Tetali's forthcoming coffee table book celebrating India and its people through cartoon illustrations.

Your College Crew. Now City-Wide.
Mumbai doesn't wait for anyone—and neither should you. From crowded locals to quiet corners, this city rewards those who show up. But stepping into its rhythm straight out of college? That takes more than just a resume. It takes people who've been where you are.
That's exactly what Connect & Learn – Mumbai is built for.

SAIC brings together students and alumni for an evening that cuts through the noise. No stiff speeches. No awkward icebreakers. Just real conversations about finding your feet in the corporate world, decoding industry unwritten rules, and figuring out life after campus—with people who actually get it.

Come with your questions. Leave with perspective, contacts, and maybe even a little confidence. Because in a city that never stops moving, a head start makes all the difference.
