A One Day National Service Scheme (NSS) Camp on the theme “Gender Equality” was successfully organised by the NSS Unit 002C, Faculty of Arts, Banaras Hindu University, on 8th February 2026 at the Department of AIHC & Archaeology, BHU, under the able coordination and guidance of Dr. Priyanka Singh, Programme Officer, NSS Unit 002C.
Before the commencement of the main programme, a Shramdaan (cleanliness drive) was carried out by the volunteers of NSS Unit 002C. The volunteers actively participated in cleaning the surrounding areas of the venue, promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and social responsibility, in accordance with the NSS motto “Not Me, But You.”
The camp aimed to create awareness among students about gender equality, social justice, and the crucial role of youth in building an inclusive and equitable society.
The programme was graced by Dr. Priyanka Sonkar, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Banaras Hindu University, and Former Programme Officer, NSS Unit 002C, as the Resource Person. She delivered an insightful lecture on gender equality, highlighting its social, cultural, and constitutional dimensions, and emphasized equal opportunities, mutual respect, and active participation of both men and women in all spheres of life.
Dr. Priyanka Singh (PO, NSS 002C) also addressed the gathering and shared valuable insights on gender equality, emphasizing the responsibility of NSS volunteers in promoting sensitivity, equality, and social harmony.
NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme and shared their views on women empowerment, education, and gender sensitivity.
J. A. Mollah, Senior NSS Volunteer, briefly explained the objectives, benefits, and opportunities of NSS, highlighting its role in personality development and nation-building.
At the end of the programme, Dr. Priyanka Singh (PO, NSS 002C) delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Resource Person and all participants.
