Beloved Alumni and Alumnae of Andhra Loyola College,
Warm greetings from Fr Rex Angelo SJ!
I am glad to inform you that Andhra Loyola College Alumni Association (ALCAA) has been officially registered under AP Societies Registration Act 2001 on 5th September, 2019 (Teachers’ Day) with Registration No: 220/2019. It has been a long but transparent democratic process with kind co-operation and support from many a good heart. Though our Old Boys’ Association (OBA) had been in existence since 1963 and was later known as ALCAA which was also running well for many years, we felt the need to register our old students’ association as a society as suggested by many enlightened minds. In fact, it took for us more than three years to complete this important process as there were several consultations and clarifications at many levels.
I thank all our alumni for your hard work, commitment, and loyalty to ALC, your beloved alma mater. On behalf of the Jesuit Management of the College, I offer my sincere thanks to Sri Harish Chandra Prasad, our President, Sri Surya Prakasa Rao, the Vice-president, Sri Rama Chandra Rao, Dr GV Mohan Prasad, & Dr Pattabhi Ramaiah, (Ex-Presidents), Sri T Ramesh (EC Member & Administrative Officer, Siddhartha Foundations), Dr Muvva Srinivasa Reddy (General Secretary), Sri K Siva Sankar (Treasurer & IPR Attorney and President, Nirmala Old Students’ Association), Sri Maria Das & Sri K Viswanadham (Jt. Secretaries), and Dr K Rayappa Reddy (EC Member) for your labour of love to achieve this. With our hearts filled with thanks, we also remember several others who have toiled hard behind the curtain to support us in this mission.
Unfortunately, there were also some sad and painful moments purposely created by some vested interests. Ignoring the sanctity and the glory of Loyola and brushing aside the repeated fervent appeals of Rev Fathers, some individuals were hell-bent on organising a parallel old students’ association outside Loyola campus without permission from College Management, thus, deviating from the original purpose of starting such a wonderful movement. Since I was removed from all WatsApp groups purposely, I was kept in the dark about all discussions outside. The College Management could not remain a mute spectator to such aberrations and was forced to act. We spent a lot of time together for dialogue and negotiation for the last three years but unfortunately in vain.
Time and again, we brought Sri Apparayalu Garu and his associates to the negotiating table for the democratic and transparent process of dialogue to make our final decision at our EC meetings. At last, by a huge majority of votes (19:9), members opted for a clear choice in favour of ALCAA. With the registration of ALCAA as a Society now, there is only one official and authorised Alumni Association of ALC. Rev Fr Principal has officially communicated to all stakeholders through the College Website that the College Management has not permitted any individual or a group of individuals to start or register any other Alumni Association, using the name and the emblem of our College. Such ventures are forbidden and any deviation from these guidelines will have legal implications.
Any former student of ALC is most welcome to become a member of ALCAA by following the procedure approved by the Executive Committee of ALCAA. For any clarification, our alumni can contact Dr Movva Srinivasa Reddy (Secretary) directly. Let us avoid spreading untruths among people in public forum. ‘Solidarity & Service’ being our motto, we shall always strive hard to take ALCAA to greater heights and take care of our beloved alma mater in a more tangible manner. With open minds and hearts, we also look forward to joining hands with all peoples of good will, irrespective of caste, colour, creed, and gender to spread universal brotherhood and sisterhood through ALCAA in future. Let me wish you all the best in this noble mission. May God Almighty continue to bless our humble efforts!
In solidarity,
Fr A Rex Angelo SJ, Director
On behalf of ALCAA
