IEEE KLU SB

IEEE KLU SB IEEE is the worlds largest professional association for the advancement of technology.

IEEE KLUniversity Student Branch, a major organ of IEEE Vizag Sub section, part of Hyderabad Section. The Section falls under the jurisdiction of Asia Pacific Region (R-10) of IEEE. K L University is a pioneer in the field of Engineering education and research in private sector. It was established as Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering in 1980, situated in a spacious 80 acre campus on the b

anks of Buckingham canal of river Krishna 8km away from Vijayawada. The city also houses large number of industries in the field of Engineering and Technology, automobile, electrical, electronics, forging, foundries and with Asia’s largest workshop areas. KLU IEEE Student Branch was established on June 4th 2011 with professional members and student members. Under the guidance of Branch counselor Dr.M.Venugopal Rao , the student branch has carried out with focused activities in respective departments with Workshops, Technical Lectures by IEEE members, and Industrial visits. The Student branch has been successful in shimmering out the tranquil thoughts of the students who wish to innovate out their technical thoughts with sufficient blending of projects, with a mission to empower the campus commune with sufficient and resourceful platform. The student branch has proven its uniqueness by leading ahead with pro student activities. Student branch has recently started its activities for retention of women in technical disciplines by establishing a WIE Student branch. Focusing on the social welfare and awareness activities, the WIE Branch is escalating their attributes. The Branch and its student members endeavor to contribute to the advancement of the knowledge of its community through activities that provide professional information exchanges. The Student branch perpetually tries to simulate technological innovations in the field of engineering and to provide a platform to various students and professional society members.

A star supported by neutron degeneracy pressure is known as a neutron star, which may be seen as a pulsar if its magnetic field is favorably aligned with its spin axis. Since neutron stars are born in a core-collapse supernova explosion, they rotate extremely rapidly as a consequence of the conservation of angular momentum. They can rotate up to 60 times per second when born. If they are part of a binary system, their rotation rate can increase to over 600 times per second. This means a neutron star could rotate more than 1,200 times in the time it takes the Ferrari LaFerrari to go from zero to 100 kmh (60 mph).

IBM has a long-standing relation to the history of hard drives dating back to 1953. When they introduced the first 1 gigabyte hard drive in 1980, it was the size of a refrigerator, weighed around 249 kg (550 lbs) and cost USD $40,000. Thankfully the price of hard drives has come down in the last three decades!

Even as the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter is often overshadowed by the buzz surrounding Mars. The stripes and swirls you see on the face of Jupiter are windy clouds of ammonia and water. Its iconic Great Red Spot is a giant storm bigger than Earth that has raged for hundreds of years. Jupiter is so big, that more than 1,000 Earths would fit inside of it.

This week we’re recognizing and remembering IEEE Fellow Eric Herz. While at Sperry Gyroscope Company, Herz contributed to the development of high-speed electro-mechanical dry circuit switches to work with tube type circuits used during that time. In 1957 at General Dynamics Convair Division, Herz was the engineering supervisor of the development and implementation of telemetering Data Processing Stations. Among other great accomplishments, Herz was a member of the IEEE Board of Directors, General Manager and Executive Director of IEEE, an Emeritus member of the IEEE Board of Directors, president of IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society and IEEE vice president for Technical Activities.

Like most companies, there is usually a deeper meaning behind the brand name, and tech giant Sony is no exception. Originally called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo (shortened to Totsuko), founders Masaru Ibuka and Akio Morita built Japan’s first tape recorder, the Type-G. During a visit to the United States, Morita discovered that some Americans had trouble pronouncing the name, leading the team to reconsider what they called themselves. After trialing a few more names, they came up with “Sony,” a simple pronunciation that is the same in almost every language. The name combined “sonus,” the root of sonic in Latin, with “sonny,” meaning small size (also a slang term used in America in the 1950s to call a boy).
