The Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University, Prof. G. P. Raja Sekhar, and the Dean, International Affairs, Prof. S. Paul Douglas, along with Andhra University Alumni Association of North America (AANA) Houston members Mr. Sai Rachakonda and Dr. Phaneendra Kondapi, met Dr. Renu Khator, President of the University of Houston, and Dr. Ramanan Krishnamoorti, Vice-President for Energy and Innovation, to discuss strengthening academic and research collaborations between the two universities.

The discussions focused on identifying priority areas under the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), including advanced physics and superconductivity, energy and sustainability, meteorology and oceanography, advanced materials and manufacturing, artificial intelligence, high-performance computing (HPC), and 5G and next-generation communication technologies. Potential collaboration with the Texas Center for Superconductivity at the University of Houston (TcSUH) and the proposed establishment of an AI Systems Centre of Excellence were also discussed.

The proposed partnership aims to promote joint research programmes, faculty and researcher exchanges, international conferences, collaborative publications, specialized training, and knowledge sharing. The participants emphasized defining clear research priorities and developing actionable initiatives with measurable academic and scientific outcomes.

The interaction marks an important step in Andhra University's centenary-year efforts to expand its international research network and strengthen India–U.S. academic cooperation. The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed Andhra University's commitment to advancing the proposed MoU into focused, sustainable, and mutually beneficial academic and research partnerships..

Celebrating brilliance and engineering excellence! Andhra University Registrar Prof. K. Rambabu congratulated our talented Civil Engineering students at his office today for their stellar performance at the recently concluded 3rd National Concrete Canoe Championship and the inaugural UESI Surveying Skills Challenge hosted at Shri Vishnu Engineering College for Women, Bhimavaram. Representing the Andhra University College of Engineering with immense dedication, our second and third-year B. Tech students competed against top-tier institutions from across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Their hard work paid off spectacularly as they emerged as Overall Champions in the Surveying Skills Challenge, securing a cash prize of Rs. 25,000. In the Concrete Canoe Championship, the team won the prestigious Ingenious Canoe Award alongside a Rs. 15,000 cash prize, and further claimed the Best Artisans Award for their exceptional structural design and craftsmanship. Principal Prof. K. Venkata Subbaiah, Civil Engineering Department Head Prof. C. N. V. Satyanarayana Reddy, and esteemed faculty members joined in celebrating this proud milestone, inspiring our students to keep building a brighter future.

Andhra University proudly marked its historic 100-year milestone internationally with the Andhra University Alumni Association of North America Centenary Celebration in Sugar Land, Texas. Bringing together over 200 prominent alumni from across the United States, the event served as a powerful platform to strengthen global institutional ties as the university enters its second century.
The gathering was led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. G. P. Raja Sekhar as the Chief Guest, alongside Prof. S. Paul Douglas and Sri Prashant Kumar Sona from the Indian High Commission in Houston. During the program, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raja Sekhar outlined new academic, research, and international partnership initiatives, while introducing the draft endowment policy and transparent accountability frameworks for alumni contributions. Discussions centered heavily on fostering institutional collaborations between US universities and Andhra University, student-faculty mentorship, and joint research ventures. Announced by Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.P. Raja Sekhar, the recognition was formally received by IIC President Prof. G.M.J. Raju and team members at a-hub. The Vice-Chancellor commended their dedication to fostering an active culture of creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and startup development across the campus. Additionally, the AU Women’s Engineering College IIC secured a commendable 3-Star Rating.

Established by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, the IIC framework plays a pivotal role in nurturing student innovation through structured ideation sessions, workshops, hackathons, and incubation support. Marking an important public health milestone, Andhra University has launched the hundred day TB Free India Campaign. Organised jointly by the AU Health Centre and the National Service Scheme in association with the Government Hospital for Chest and Communicable Diseases and the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Andhra Medical College, this program reinforces our dedication to the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The inaugural program witnessed inspiring addresses from distinguished dignitaries on the dais. Professor Surya Kumari stressed the critical need for timely medical intervention and unwavering adherence to treatment regimens. Professor Pulipati King, Rector of Andhra University, encouraged the entire campus fraternity to take the lead in health awareness and preventive action. Further motivating the gathering, Dr. G. A. V. Rameswar and Sri D. Simhachalam highlighted how university students can uplift society by dismantling social stigma and assisting patients in need.

An informative technical session conducted by doctors from the Government Chest Hospital provided practical insights into tuberculosis detection and recovery. On Wednesday, Andhra University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raja Sekhar G P inaugurated the state-of-the-art Engineering Test and Validation Center at a-hub, the university's premier startup and incubation hub. Following the inauguration, the Vice-Chancellor interacted with students, personally exploring the advanced equipment installed in the new laboratory and understanding its practical applications and utility.

This project is being established jointly by Andhra University and the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in two phases. Phase I has been successfully completed and inaugurated with an initial investment of Rs. 50 Lakhs, equipped with cutting-edge machinery. Phase II is set to be completed and made accessible within the next two months, featuring advanced equipment valued at approximately Rs. 70 Lakhs.

Designed to test electrical circuits and evaluate performance systems, this facility allows students to move beyond academic prototypes and gain hands-on, real-world experience with industrial-grade equipment. This initiative serves as a major milestone in strengthening the startup and incubation ecosystem at AU, providing world-class infrastructure for both campus and affiliated college students as part of our ongoing centenary celebrations.

Representing Andhra University on a prestigious stage, our talented students recently participated in the PAN IIT Andhra Pradesh Summit 2026 for an incredible experience filled with learning and exposure.

The landmark event brought together visionary leaders, including the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with IIT directors, startup founders, research scientists, IIT alumni, industry professionals, and students from diverse universities. During the summit, our students proudly showcased their innovative projects, interacting extensively with visitors to explain their technical workflows and real-world applications.

The exhibition drew genuine interest from attendees who offered valuable feedback and suggestions, particularly regarding practical implementation, scalability, and future growth. Andhra University has taken a monumental step toward global academic collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bowling Green State University (BGSU), Ohio, USA.

The landmark agreement was formally signed in the presence of AU Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.P. Raja Sekhar by AU Registrar Prof. K. Rambabu and BGSU Provost and Senior Vice President Dr. Ravi Krovi.

This partnership between two century-old institutions is designed to foster high-impact cooperation across several key areas:

Andhra University commemorated the 157th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at the Gandhian Studies Centre, reflecting on the enduring relevance of truth, non-violence, and social responsibility.

The solemn programme commenced with traditional prayers, garlanding of the portrait, bhajans, and the spinning of the Charaka. Presided over by AU College of Arts & Commerce Principal Prof. Jaladi Ravi, the event featured inspiring addresses from distinguished dignitaries:

Chief Guest Prof. V. Bala Mohan Das (Former VC, Nagarjuna University) spoke on "Mahatma Gandhi for All Times," emphasizing the need to apply Gandhian thought to contemporary social challenges.

Guest of Honour Prof. M. Prasada Rao (Former Rector, AU) delivered insights on "Gandhi’s Vision, Ambedkar’s Path towards Developed India."

Guest of Honour Shri Ravi Kiran Edara, IRS (Additional Director General, National Academy of Customs) highlighted the applicability of Gandhian principles in modern public life.

The event also marked the official release of the book "Gandhi, Technology, Sustainability and the Future of Humanity," exploring the intersection of Gandhian philosophy with modern technological and environmental questions.
