स्वच्छतर भविष्य की ओर | स्वच्छता ही सेवा–2026

भारतीय प्रबंध संस्थान विशाखापत्तनम ने स्वच्छता ही सेवा अभियान–2026 का शुभारंभ किया है और इसके माध्यम से स्वच्छता, सततता एवं नागरिक उत्तरदायित्व के प्रति अपनी प्रतिबद्धता को पुनः दृढ़ किया है।
अभियान का शुभारंभ स्वच्छता शपथ के साथ हुआ, जिसका संचालन प्रो. एम. चंद्रशेखर, निदेशक, आईआईएम विशाखपट्टणम द्वारा किया गया। इस अवसर पर आईआईएमवी समुदाय एकजुट होकर स्वच्छ एवं अधिक सतत पर्यावरण के प्रति सामूहिक प्रतिबद्धता के लिए आगे आया।
“सामूहिक कार्रवाई से दृश्यमान प्रभाव” विषय पर केंद्रित इस अभियान के अंतर्गत उत्तरदायित्वपूर्ण प्रबंधन एवं सामुदायिक सहभागिता को बढ़ावा देने वाली विभिन्न पहलें आयोजित की जा रही हैं।
इन प्रयासों के माध्यम से आईआईएमवी महात्मा गांधी के स्वच्छ एवं आत्मनिर्भर भारत के दृष्टिकोण के प्रति अपनी श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित करते हुए एक स्वच्छ, हरित एवं स्वस्थ भविष्य के निर्माण में योगदान दे रहा है।

Towards a Cleaner Future | Swachhata Hi Seva 2026
IIM Visakhapatnam has launched the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026, reaffirming its commitment to cleanliness, sustainability, and civic responsibility.

The campaign commenced with the Swachhata Pledge, administered by Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, bringing the IIMV community together in a collective commitment towards a cleaner and more sustainable environment. Focusing on the theme “Collective Action for Visible Impact” with a series of initiatives promoting responsible management and community engagement.

Through these efforts, IIMV pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and self-reliant India, while contributing towards a cleaner, greener, and healthier future.

Leading What’s Next: From Experience to Readiness

IIM Visakhapatnam hosted a fireside chat, “Leading What’s Next: From Experience to Readiness,” bringing together industry and academia to discuss leadership, professional readiness, skills and organisational transformation.

Moderated by Prof. Chandrasekhar M, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam, the conversation featured Shri. Raj Kumar Dubey, former Chairman, Indraprastha Gas Limited and former Director (HR), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, as the Chief Guest.

The discussion explored evolving leadership expectations and the need for professionals to build capabilities proactively amid technological and business transformation. Prof. M. Chandrasekhar highlighted the importance of combining managerial depth, digital fluency and resilience to lead organisations effectively.

The session was followed formal unveiling of the brochure for the fourth batch of IIM Visakhapatnam’s Winter Intake Executive MBA (EMBA) Programme.
Designed for working professionals, the two-year programme integrates advanced management learning with AI-enabled applications, industry insights and global learning exposure.

Strengthening Global Academic Connections | IIM Visakhapatnam × University of Twente

IIM Visakhapatnam is pleased to strengthen academic connections with the University of Twente, Netherlands, ranked #=223 globally in the QS World University Rankings 2027, towards developing programmes at the intersection of Neuroscience, Business, and Society. The collaboration will also explore opportunities for student, researcher, and faculty exchange.

Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty represented IIM Visakhapatnam in taking this collaboration forward. We extend our sincere thanks to Prof. Tanya Bondarouk, Dean, Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences, University of Twente, for her support, and to Prof. Abhishta for being instrumental in forging this academic connection.

The collaboration strengthens IIM Visakhapatnam’s global academic network and opens new avenues for interdisciplinary learning, research, and exchange, backed by its five-year BGA accreditation and AACSB membership.

Managing Large Digital Transformative Projects | Building Capacity for Digital Governance

IIM Visakhapatnam commenced the five-day Managing Large Digital Transformative Projects capacity-building programme, in partnership with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).
The programme brings together 33 government officers from Ministries, Departments and institutions including MeitY, NITI Aayog, Ministry of Railways, Department of Space, Department of Defence, UIDAI, Indian Army, Department of Atomic Energy, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Civil Aviation, and others.

Working across areas such as digital governance, DigiYatra, Jal Shakti, maritime security, urban development, healthcare and defence, participants bring diverse real-world perspectives to the programme.

Led by Prof. Neena Pandey and Prof. Bhavya P S, the programme covers Digital Transformation, Government Process Reengineering & Change Management, Project Risk Management, Information Security, AI & Emerging Technologies, Design Thinking, data exchange platforms, cybersecurity, the DPDP framework, and Law and Ethics. It also integrates case studies and a field visit to connect theoretical foundations.

IIM Visakhapatnam, a five-year BGA-accredited institution and member of AACSB, continues to strengthen capacity-building initiatives that connect management education with emerging technologies and evolving governance needs.

📢 Research Update | IIM Visakhapatnam

We are pleased to share that a research paper co-authored by Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, titled “The Reverse Information Paradox: When AI Platforms Retain Too Much or Too Little Data,” has been published in Economics Letters (ABDC: A).

The paper examines how AI platforms decide how much user data to retain by balancing the value of data for improving AI systems and profitability against the risks associated with data breaches or misuse. It highlights a key paradox: platforms may retain too much data when its benefits outweigh perceived risks, or too little when those risks dominate.

The research suggests that a one-size-fits-all approach to data retention may not be effective. Instead, it highlights the need for distinct policy mechanisms addressing how much data platforms retain and how much users are willing to share, offering timely insights for AI governance, privacy, and platform regulation.
Congratulations to Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty and his co-author on this significant research achievement and their contribution to the evolving discourse on AI, data governance, and digital platforms.

Leadership with AI | Executive Development Programme for Senior Officers of MCL

IIM Visakhapatnam commenced a five-day Executive Development Programme, “Leadership with AI,” for senior-level officers of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL). The programme aims to equip senior leaders with the understanding and practical judgement to champion, govern and apply AI-driven solutions across organisational functions.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Sandip Kr. Shah, GM (HR/HRD), MCL, who encouraged participants to interact, ask questions, take an active interest and innovate. The participants were warmly welcomed by Prof. M. Chandrasekhar, Director, IIM Visakhapatnam.

Led by Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty and Prof. Abhishek Srivastava, the programme brings together IIMV faculty and industry experts, including Shri Kiran Shetty, President and Head of Digital Transformation, Hindalco Industries Ltd.; Shri Hem Raj, Head, Hindalco Technical University; Shri Laxmi Chander, mining and Digital/AI transformation professional; and Dr. Ravi Shankar, AI and industry transformation expert.

Carefully curated following a comprehensive needs assessment, the programme is built around three key principles: AI as a leadership challenge, learning tailored to the industry context, and measurable value creation through AI. Sessions cover AI leadership, data strategy, AI applications in mining, procurement and supply chains, safety and environment, asset management, corporate governance, and digital transformation, with a focus on practical applications relevant to MCL’s operational context.

Young Faculty Research Chair Success Stories | Research that Shapes What’s Next

IIM Visakhapatnam’s Young Faculty Research Chair (YFRC) initiative is designed to recognise and support young faculty with strong research potential and a commitment to advancing impactful scholarship.

As part of the YFRC Success Stories, we highlight the research contribution of Prof. Shiwangi Singh, who co-authored the paper titled “Modelling the Artificial Intelligence Policy Interface: A Review and Research Agenda,” accepted for publication in the Journal of Policy Modelling (ABDC: A).

As Artificial Intelligence increasingly shapes economies, institutions, and public decision-making, the study examines the evolving interface between AI and public policy. It brings together existing scholarship on the subject and identifies important directions for future research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, governance, and policymaking.

Through YFRC, IIM Visakhapatnam continues to foster a research-driven academic environment, supporting young faculty in advancing impactful scholarship and creating knowledge with wider relevance to business, government, and society.

Certificate Programme in Strategic Investment Banking and Decision Making Concludes at IIM Visakhapatnam

The six-month Certificate Programme in Strategic Investment Banking and Decision Making, in technical collaboration with Intellipaat, concluded at IIM Visakhapatnam with a two-day campus immersion, bringing participants together for the final phase of their learning journey.

Led by Prof. Tamali Chakraborty and Prof. Monika, the programme offered participants a comprehensive understanding of key areas in investment banking and financial decision-making, including financial modelling, valuation, venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity capital markets, and risk management.

Addressing the participants during the campus immersion, Prof. Vijaya Bhaskar Marisetty, Dean (Academics), IIM Visakhapatnam, spoke about real assets, risk, mutual funds, and the emerging role of investment banking in India. He highlighted the timeliness of the programme in the context of India’s growth trajectory over the next 10-25 years and emphasised the role of financial expertise and informed investment decisions in contributing to nation-building.

The campus immersion provided participants with an opportunity to engage with faculty and peers, consolidate their learning, and reflect on the application of investment banking concepts in a rapidly evolving financial environment.
