7th day of NSS special camp:
An event to promote alcoholic Deaddiction was planned and executed successfully at the adopted Village (Athipadugai)of PKIET NSS units..our volunteers persuaded 9 of the village youth to take pledge in front of their village temple(under construction ) in the presence of village people ,our nss volunteers, nss programme officers and the state liason officer .....The youth then signed the pledge ...The youth were issued one copy of the pledge and a certificate of promise authorised by the NSS programme officers....
The village people were also made to take a separate pledge which they enthusiastically participated and also signed the pledge ...one copy was issued to the village Head and the other was retained by our NSS unit for future course of action....
This is indeed a historic event both for the villagers and our nss crew....
We have also promised the villagers to arrange for treatments through TTK Chennai to the already addicted village men....
Thanks Mr.Murugaram IRS for initiating guiding and supporting us throughout...
We will plan further to completely eradicate addiction there....
It was a hurricane task because the village youth showed reluctance and were running away from us..it is because of the never give up attitude of our volunteers that helped the cause....
This has become the most significant event of our life and we hope to take it further meaningfully....

5th day ..13 April 2018-PKIET NSS special camp::::::::::
Event 1: cleaning of camp site and temple
Event 2: Invited Expert Dr.Velvizhi Madam/ Chief of Fish for Farming***Head of Village Resource Centre Nagapattinam
MS Swaminatham Research Foundation(MSSRF)
briefed the NSS volunteers about MSSRF and explained how could engineering students contribute for societal development...She also touched upon the role of youth in social service & development ...
Event 3: Dr.Velvizhi accompanied by Ms.Shanmugapriya ,agricultural farming expert MSSRF met the women self groups at three separate locations of the Athipadugai village in the afternoon.They first tried to learn the existing farming ,poultry and other practices as adopted by the groups themselves.They then suggested advanced methods and also promised to arrange for training programme through their resources to better their income with smart ethical work .They also promoted Organic farming and elucidated to them the existing govt. schemes and subsides to embrace it. They also suggested that Shortage of water which affected the farmers during off-season can be dealt by embracing" Sottu Neer Pasanam" (farming with least volume of water) and explained them the methods of employing them...
The Agricultural farming expert Ms Shanmugapriya also shared the helpline for farming and the Apps like Mathura which provides complete guidance for farmers ..Dr.Velvizhi also persuaded the villagers to learn basic Veterinary treatments to their cattles as the access to hospitals and Doctors for the villagers are far reaching...She also promised them to arrange for such training to villagers by the experts from Veterinary University at Nagapattinam..The villagers of Athipadugai Petta were educated about the simple and effective methods of growing Country Hens.To address off-season uemployability the villagers were suggested to try start up small scale Buisiness like phenol making soap making etc..Training in this regard were also promised to be arranged by Dr.Velvizhi....

The experts also explained effective methods of growing Fodder crops, arrange training in cow and goat poultry, asked them to subscribe and utilise Namba ooru Seithi, a magazine for farmers and printed document for cow insulin schedule as prepared by experts etc.
Almost all the issues as presented by villagers were addressed and suitable technical suggestions were explained to the Villagers....
The whole of the meeting lasted more than 4 hours and the villagers got hugely benefited from the inputs of the experts ..
Event 3:
Painting of wall for creating public awareness towards alcoholic Deaddiction by NSS volunteer Deepan 2nd year supported by 1st year volunteers
Event 4 :
Our girl volunteers prepared charts for creating awareness on Deaddiction, water saving ,tree plantation, child education , traffic rules etc...and displayed them at appropriate places of the village road for public view........

Fourth day of NSS special camp

Event 1: cleaning work at the premises of Thirunallar temple from 6 am to 8 am
Event 2: Significance of NSS ,various areas of services that can bring in changes to the society, students role in societal building were elucidated through inspirational videos and excerpts from standing examples by the NSS Advisory committee members..
Event 3: Our resource person cm chief guest Mr.Murugaram IRS, Deputy Commissioner, O/o Central Excise interacted with our student volunteers presented various aspects of life , Societal responsibility, individual growth, Civil service examination preparations, GST so on so forth...
Later in the day Mr.Murugaram,NSS programme officers and volunteers met members of self help women group of Athipadugai main village and Athipadugai Pettai at their respective places and educated them about various govt schemes, suggested them with progressive ideas of growth, sensitized about alcoholic Deaddiction etc..
The villagers have promised to act against alcoholic addiction and agreed unanimously to persuade youth to take oath at temple backyard to keep themselves away from alcohol....
The villagers were ensured complete support for its development and future course of action by the NSS team which includes building up village knowledge centre and mini library ....The meeting lasted for over 3 hours and the villagers were injected upon with lots of development schemes.....
Event 4: The evening session was dedicated for cleaning the adjacent temple premises and the area around the camp site......
Event 5: preparatory works for painting wall of the village for creating awareness on Deaddiction were carried out
Event 5: Student volunteers displayed awareness charts on the walls of the appropriate places of village towards Deaddiction, Saving Water, planting trees, Avoiding open defacation etc...

Third day of NSS special camp...
Event 1: cleaning work at govt primary school...our boys were involved in hectic work sweating it out to clean the roof of the school building and sidesetting stones that were blocking the path....
Event 2 : free eye screening for the villagers
From Early hours of the day volunteers both boys and girls went from door to door and invited villagers to utilise the screening camp
Vision checking was carried out followed by examination by the invited Opthalmologist Dr.G.V.Kamalapriya ...
After examination spectacles were distributed to the patients free of cost and only the lens was being charged .nearly 100 villagers got benefited from the camp
Highlight of the camp was that the doctor has promised free of cost Cateract surgeries for 7 patients..
Event 3: Afternoon session the doctor made candid presentation to create awareness about Eye Donation and elucidated the significance of it
Event 4: Our selected volunteer crew conducted spree of events for govt primary school children to enable them build their Ambition , inject ethical habits , learn to speak English better, science and mathematical skill inputs , fun games to test their skills etc... the event lasted more than 3 and half hours....
At the end of the event students were presented with medals as a mark of appreciation and encouragement
Event 4: To create awareness on Alcoholic Deaddiction, tree plantations, avoiding open defacation, saving Water , encouraging children to embrace school etc . Our NSS girls alongside boys prepared posters and displayed it on to the appropriate places of public gathering....

Second day of NSS camp ...event 1-cleaning of graveyard from 6am to 8 am
Door to door Invitation to avail free dental check up
Event 2- free dental check up camp to villagers , school children and Volunteers. More than 100 people got benefited
School children been lined up and taken from the school to the camp area for check up by ťhe volunteers
Brushing techniques elucidated to the school children by volunteers
Event 3- food preparation with girl volunteers involved in cutting vegetables Washing vessels cooking and distribution
Event 4- cleaning the premises of the camp

NSS special camp at Adhipadugai village of Thirunallar Commune Kickstarted from today 9th April 2018 and will end by 15th April....Lots of programme in store for the volunteers and the benefit of villagers....

Spent a day with the Manidhaneyam home inmates today.....passed out students of pkiet Karthik Yaiessu barathi made the arrangements ably assisted by Thiru Brown Sankaranarayan and sharmadha.Mr.Rajavarman physical director of pkiet made his presence for the event and helped our volunteers .we arranged them medical check up by inviting pschychartrist Dr.Rooban who examined them and prescribed medicines too...afternoon nonveg lunch was provided to the inmates and followed by screening of movies to address their stress factor...at the end of the event sarees shirts pants were distributed to the inmates of KARAIKAL home as well as their branch at Poraiyar..we thank the Joy of giving team and the generous student donors of joy of giving ...A very satisfying beginning to 2018 indeed......happy New year all.....

There is no stopping of good work ...appreciations to sultan of 2nd Cse for making this to happen...donating food for 50 inmates of Manidhaneyam old age home is by no means a simple work....appreciations to the entire team of Vaseegaran,sultan,Manikandan,sanjay,Saravanan,David Brown so on so forth for distributing the food irrespective of heavy downpour throughout .. proud of u all....

The Nss units of pkiet initiative "Joy of giving" group members identified underprivileged families (socially backward )near new bus stand Karaikal and reached them with the donated clothes by the students of Pkiet today ..our joy of giving members Ifthikar parameswaran Manikandan David Brown Saravanan Thirunavukkarasu Yuvan have been the architect of this good work...just wonderful display humanity..the donors need a special mention for showing such interest in Joy of giving and for making a valuable contribution to someone's life.....the pictures of their whereabouts tell u how badly they need contributions from our side to lead a dignified stay on earth...

The idea of Joy of Giving kickstarted in Pkiet campus today .....over 150 clothes ,books,stationary items, biscuits , chocolates were donated by pkiet students and staff members on the inaugural day....the day got ignited with the Principal of Pkiet cutting off the ribbon in the presence of special invitee Mr.Kanagaraj the District NSS coordinator, hods,teaching and nonteaching staff members, administrative staff and a huge lot of exuberant pkiet students........Very proud that this initiative is first been introduced in Karaikal by Pkiet.......many more to come
