The School of Art & Architecture at Yazd University was established in 1989 and since then has built up a reputation for excellence. It is widely recognized as one of the leading schools of architecture in Iran. The faculty of Architecture was established in 1989 to conduct a post-graduate professional Master of Architecture program. In 1994 the department of Painting was established and in 2000 t
he department of Urban Planning was founded within the faculty. The faculty is located in a number of historical buildings (houses) within the ancient part of the city of Yazd. These buildings provide extensive lecture, seminar, studio and laboratory space for all students in an aspiring and friendly atmosphere. It accommodates the Architecture, Urban Planning and Painting departments as well as library and CAD/computing resource center. The Faculty of Art & Architecture consists of 30 academic members and 3 departments as follows:
