Today, the Executive MBA Class of 2026 successfully defended their final projects, marking the completion of their two-year MBA journey. Congratulations to all teams on this outstanding achievement and important milestone.
As part of the final project, students used the MITdesignX framework to transform an urgent problem they had identified into a scalable venture. Drawing on the knowledge, models, and tools acquired throughout the Executive MBA programme, each team developed a comprehensive strategy for launching and growing their venture.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the course supervisors, Dr. Svafa Grönfeldt, Dr. Aldís G. Sigurðardóttir, and Erla Ósk Pétursdóttir, for their support and guidance throughout this journey, as well as to our external examiner, Dr. Hallur Þór Sigurðarson.
A special thank you to our distinguished panel members - Hekla Arnardóttir, Þórir Kjartansson, Hrönn Greipsdóttir, Marinella Haraldsdóttir, and Bala Kamallakharan - who brought invaluable insights and thoughtful questions to the defence. Executive MBA árgangur 2027 er þessa helgina í síðustu kennslulotu fyrsta námsársins þar sem þau sitja námskeið í rekstrarstjórnun undir leiðsögn Eduard Calvo prófessors frá IESE Business School. Með fjölbreyttum og hagnýtum agile verkefnum fengu nemendur innsýn í hvar agile rekstrarstjórnun getur skapað mest virði. Áhersla var lögð á mikilvægi sprettvinnu, sjálfstæðra teyma, stöðugrar endurgjafar og aðlögunarhæfni í síbreytilegu rekstrarumhverfi nútímans.

Nemendur fengu einnig heimsókn frá Helga Eide Guðjónssyni, framkvæmdastjóri rekstrar og aðfangakeðju hjá JBT Marel. Helgi deildi reynslu sinni af uppbyggingu Lean straumlínustjórnunar hjá fyrirtækinu og því hvað þarf til að innleiða það með árangursríkum hætti. Eitt af lykilatriðunum var að Lean snýst um mun meira en verkfæri og ferla, Lean er menning sem byggir á stöðugum umbótum, samvinnu og langtímahugsun.

Frábær helgi þar sem hagnýtt nám, umræður og reynsla úr atvinnulífinu fara saman.

The Executive MBA Class of 2027 is spending this weekend in the final module of their first year, taking Operations Management with Prof. Eduard Calvo from IESE Business School. Through a series of hands-on agile exercises, students explored where agile operations management can create the greatest value. The course highlighted the importance of sprint work, autonomous teams, continuous feedback, and adaptability in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

The students also welcomed Helgi Eide Guðjónsson, Director of Supply Chain Operations at JBT Marel. Helgi shared insights from JBT Marel’s Lean management journey and what it takes to successfully implement Lean management in practice. One of the key takeaways was that Lean is far more than a set of tools and processes — it is a culture built on continuous improvement, collaboration, and long-term thinking.

A great weekend where practical learning, discussion, and real-world industry experience came together.

Í vetur unnu nemendur í Executive MBA náminu við Háskólann í Reykjavík að krefjandi og lærdómsríku verkefni í samningatækniáfanganum "Tactical Negotiation and Influence" hjá Dr. Aldísi G. Sigurðardóttur. Verkefnið fólst í verðmætasköpun í gegnum vöruskipti – að minnsta kosti 10 skipti – þar sem hver hópur byrjaði með eina rauða pappírsklemmu. Verkefnið byggir á One Red Paperclip eftir Kyle MacDonald.

Árangurinn var ótrúlegur. Einn hópurinn lauk sínum vöruskiptum hjá Ofar og fékk kennsluskjá að verðmæti 700.000 kr. Nemendurnir gáfu MBA skrifstofunni skjáinn, sem mun nýtast bæði nemendum og kennurum í náminu.

Á dögunum komu þeir Ágúst Gylfason og Friðrik Óskar Friðriksson frá Ofar og afhentu skjáinn og við nýttum tækifærið til að taka mynd.

Við þökkum nemendum kærlega fyrir þessa veglegu gjöf og Ofar fyrir samstarfið og kennsluna á skjáinn!

Executive MBA nemendur og alumni héldu vorhátíð á Kjarval í vikunni og fögnuðu frumkvöðlaandanum í hópnum. Viðburðurinn var mjög vel sóttur, og gaman að sjá fyrrum nemendur fjölmenna og styrkja tengslin. Kraftur og gleði einkenndu kvöldið sem hófst með pallborðsumræðum MBA frumkvöðla úr hópi alumni.

Í pallborðinu sátu Alda Sigurdardottir (MBA 2016), Jakob E. Jakobsson (MBA 2015), Ólöf Salmon Guðmundsdóttir (MBA 2011), Sigga Soffía Níelsdóttir (MBA 2021), Tim Marting (MBA 2026) og Völundur Jónsson (MBA 2024). Þau sögðu hreinskilningslega frá reynslu sinni - því góða og slæma - við mikla hrifningu gesta.

Ari Daníelsson (MBA 2006), sem stýrði umræðunum af mikilli fagmennsku og léttleika, bað þátttakendur í lokin að gefa ráð þeim sem hyggja á eigin rekstur. Þótt ráðin hafi verið fjölbreytt þá voru allir sammála um mikilvægi þess að hafa gott fólk í kringum sig - að teymið ráði úrslitum.

Það var afar ánægjulegt að sjá hversu sterk tengslin innan alumni samfélagsins eru og hversu miklu máli þau skipta, bæði í námi og starfi.

Að pallborðinu loknu gæddu gestir sér á veitingum og styrktu tengslanetið undir ljúfum tónum frá Sigurði Orra Kristjánssyni.

Við þökkum pallborðsþátttakendum kærlega fyrir að deila reynslu sinni og öllum þeim sem mættu fyrir frábært kvöld.

This weekend our first-year students are in Marketing Management with Dr. Anjali Bal from Babson College, USA, exploring marketing and branding, consumer behavior, market research and analytics, luxury brand strategy, customer personas and segmentation, and new product development in luxury brands.

Today, we were delighted to welcome Daði Guðjónsson, Director of Marketing Communication at Íslandsstofa and Executive MBA Alumni from the Class of 2022. He spoke with students about identifying what consumers want and need, and how to solve problems for them within the context of branding in Iceland.

A sincere thank you to Daði for sharing his insights, experience, and inspiration with our students. It is always especially valuable when alumni return to contribute to the learning journey of current students.

Um helgina var síðasti kennsludagurinn hjá EMBA árgangi 2026 í Executive náminu🎓 Stór áfangi.
Þau eru þó ekki alveg búin, því næstu vikur fara í að klára lokaverkefnið og svo lokavörnin í maí.
Við eru afar stolt af okkar útskriftarnemum. Þau hafa unnið vel og markvisst síðustu tvö ár, sýnt seiglu, dugnað og mikinn metnað, þrátt fyrir ýmsar áskoranir á leiðinni. Það hefur verið virkilega ánægjulegt að fylgjast með þeim vaxa, eflast og þróast - bæði faglega og persónulega.
En þau ganga ekki bara út úr náminu með aukna þekkingu, heldur einnig með sterkt tengslanet og vináttu sem endist langt út fyrir skólastofuna. Það vita þeir sem hafa farið í gegnum Executive MBA námið hversu dýrmæt þessi tengsl eru ❤️

This weekend marked the final teaching day for the EMBA Class of 2026 in the Executive programme 🎓 A major milestone.
However, the journey isn’t quite over yet, as the coming weeks will be dedicated to completing the final project, followed by the final defense in May.
We are incredibly proud of our graduating students. Over the past two years, they have worked diligently and with purpose, demonstrating resilience, dedication, and strong ambition despite various challenges along the way. It has been truly rewarding to watch them grow, strengthen, and develop, both professionally and personally.
They are not only leaving the programme with enhanced knowledge, but also with a strong network and friendships that will last far beyond the classroom.
Those who have completed an Executive MBA know how valuable these connections are ❤️
