And so we come to the end of the first edition of the Italian_design_experience.

Two intense weeks of meetings, visits, projects, experiments, experiences, research and inspiration. Poliarte Director Professor Giordano Pierlorenzi and Professor Masato Inoue, an expert in Transportation design, spoke during the closing session.

Both talks focused on contemporary design trends and the future prospects for the sector, in an era of uncertainty, changing and fluid environments and situations: fertile ground for the problem solvers of the future.

Final career day: the climax and closing stage of the educational journey of the Italian_design_experience course.

The students have the opportunity to present themselves and to outline their professional experience to the HR experts and advisors from a selected group of companies, who will listen and provide guidance on how to best conduct job interviews and to present themselves in the most favourable light.

An opportunity to listen to the experts, get some valuable hints and tips to perfect their self- presentation skills and their job search in Italy and abroad.

We are near the end of the programme, and centre stage is now given over to the presentation of the work completed by the 12 students according to the brief presented by Elica, main partner of Italian_design_experience.

Today at Poliarte, in the presence of a company delegation led by Fabrizio Crisà – the company’s Design Centre Manager - the presentation of the concepts and strategies developed in the field of product, space, communication and future trends/scenarios by the V4 teams was held.

Congratulations to everyone for their effort, commitment, the presentations and the ideas that were put forward.
And thanks to Elica for having been available right from the outset, open and responsive to our invitation to be involved, and for having proposed fundamental insights and recommendations for the students' future as designers.

Masato Inoue was today’s international guest speaker for the V4 students.

Professor Inoue, former Advanced Studio Chief Designer at Nissan and Chief Product Designer of the Nissan LEAF - the first mass-produced electric vehicle - was present today at the Academy, bringing his 40-year-experience in the Transportation design field to the table.

Founder of Masato Inoue Design & Consulting and Green Mobility Partners for Diffusion of EV, he’s lived in Italy since 2014 where he’s also active in the teaching of Transportation design.

Today, he gave an overview of developments in the sector witnessed in recent decades, from a product, space, ergonomics, communication and materials viewpoint, reflecting on what will likely be the trends for car manufacturers and the transportation sector in general in the near future.

Michele Capuani is the special guest of today’s lecture about the subject of Italian design.

An architect and product designer, with a wealth of career experience in both sectors as an industry professionist and consultant, as well as an expert in Italian design and
advocate for training in the design field, his presence at the Academy allowed the V4 students to gain invaluable insights into his background and industry knowledge.

His presentation touched upon historic and contemporary themes, as well as case histories concerning the company’s production expertise and business excellence on the Italian peninsula, renowned worldwide.

iGuzzini lighting opened its doors in the afternoon for our visit to its celebrated headquarters.

Starting with a company presentation, a visit to the production facility follows, the iconic design lab and an insight into “how a product is created”, through practical examples of the collaboration between designers, architects, engineers and technical experts, and the development of lighting culture as a social innovation.

In this way the students can experience the company’s history, founded in 1959, a stand-out regional business, and a major international player in the lighting industry with its 1243 employees, with operations in more than 20 countries across 5 continents.

Since its beginnings, iGuzzini’s focus on research and design of outdoor and indoor lighting elements has enabled the creation of products, spaces and environments that can define a person’s mood, through colours, shapes and natural forms as works of art.

This is why its vision, Social Innovation Through Lighting, has been developed along four guidelines: lighting culture, design, connectivity and sustainability.

This morning, Poltrona Frau hosted the V4 students during a visit to their Museum and to their production facilities.

Local skills, expertise and the reputation of a world-renowned brand gives our students from Poland, The Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary the opportunity to really perform a deep dive into the subject of design

Today, a visit to the Elica company: and so the Italian_design_ experience for our twelve V4-students begins.
Active in the market since the 1970s, they’re a global leader in cooker hood and induction hob production, and a European leader in motors for domestic ventilation manufacture. Fabrizio Crisà – the company’s Design Centre Manager - introduces us to the world of air circulation technology, the evolution of the extractor hood concept and to the LHOV philosophy.
A history of local skills and technical expertise, recognised across the world, gave us the opportunity to get involved first hand in their beginnings and development, specifically: maximum efficiency and reduced consumption being the elements that allow the Elica Group to become a major player in the market. Elica is a valued partner and today launches the projects which students will be involved in for the next two weeks. The results will be assessed on the 23rd September 2022.
